Responsibilities:

  • Owning the automation approach within the CMS Platform product area, building reliable coverage for critical user journeys, backend workflows, and service integrations.
  • Designing, maintaining, and evolving automation frameworks, reusable components, test data, and CI/CD integration.
  • Combining manual, exploratory, and automated testing, progressively automating valuable regression coverage as product knowledge grows.
  • Reviewing requirements early, identifying gaps and quality risks, and collaborating with developers and product stakeholders throughout the sprint.
  • Defining appropriate coverage across UI/E2E, API, contract, component, integration, and unit testing levels.
  • Validating business logic, data changes, and system behaviour using browser tools, APIs, databases, logs, network traffic, and other technical interfaces.
  • Investigating failures and flaky tests, identifying whether the root cause lies in the application, automation, data, environment, or dependencies.
  • Reviewing automation code, improving execution speed and reliability, and strengthening shared Quality Engineering standards.
  • Mentoring other Quality Engineers and partnering with the QA Lead on the wider testing and automation strategy.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in test automation, with substantial depth in UI/web automation, API/backend automation, or both.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language used for automation and the ability to design maintainable frameworks and test suites.
  • Strong manual, functional, exploratory, and risk-based testing skills.
  • Ability to translate requirements and business rules into effective positive, negative, boundary, failure, and edge-case coverage.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Agile/Scrum delivery, and modern software development workflows.
  • Confidence debugging complex failures using developer tools, APIs, logs, databases, network data, and observability tooling.
  • Sound judgement about what to automate, when to automate it, and which testing level provides the best value.

Would be a plus:

  • Experience with Playwright, Cypress, TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • SQL skills.
  • Familiarity with microservices, distributed systems.
  • Experience in integration or contract testing.
  • Visual regression and cross-browser testing experience.
  • Familiarity with message brokers, asynchronous processing, service mocking.
  • Experience with accessibility testing or user-focused performance testing.
