Full description

The Network Administrator 1 provides operational installation, configuration, deployment, maintenance, and support functions for the systems that comprise the information technology and infrastructure used throughout FMOLHS Information Services. Reviews, develops, designs, monitors, and maintains IT systems to maximize organizational performance. Provides ongoing analysis and problem-solving to ensure the integration of technology in effective workflow and process design. The senior level position has advanced knowledge in their field, assumes higher level projects and mentors and trains staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Job Duties• Reviews, develops, and designs technology systems in collaboration with FMOLHS IS Architects. Assists in the development of, and complies with, all standards regarding documentation, end user instructions, computer deployment, ticket logging, and monitoring.
  • Installs, configures, deploys, maintains, and support systems related to area of responsibility and assignment by the Manager of Technology Operations and the IS Architects.
  • Monitors technology systems to optimize performance, resource use, and configurations; addresses a variety of system integration issues including hardware migrations, OS/Firmware upgrades, software maintenance/conversion, capacity planning issues, and new applications requirements. Maintains development, test, and production environments as required.
  • Works with supervisor and architecture teams to choose an area of specialization and works toward becoming the subject matter expert (SME) in that area. SME duties include researching new developments, understanding product roadmap, providing expert level knowledge for architectural and operational functions, ensuring optimal configuration, and providing highest level technical support, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Prepares, reviews and contributes to online support knowledgebase for FMOLHS applications and systems. Remains current with the latest trends in field of expertise by participating in ongoing training and development as directed by management.
  • Monitors and maintains system and software security, in cooperation with security administrators. Ensures system security and integrity by designing, implementing, and supporting access control, authentication, authorization, and accounting systems. Ensures ongoing effectiveness of these systems by tracking and applying security updates from database vendors.
  • Provides preventative maintenance, data protection, backup/restore, and availability features on FMOLHS information systems to ensure the continued operation in the event of security breach, system failure or disaster. Assists in the evaluation of required level of these availability features based on business requirements.
  • Develops and implements data driven performance improvement methodologies. Maintains accurate records for use in evaluating organizational performance. Identifies ways of improving current services and consults with management on issues and problems.
  • Ensures security, integrity, and privacy of FMOLHS data in conjunction with FMOLHS policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • 2 years IS Network Administration experience. Bachelor's Degree in IT field substitutes for 2 years of Network Administration experience.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience in installation and configuration of a particular technology platform (datacenter, network, operating system, etc.) Experience with performance management and preventative maintenance of a particular technology platform. Experience providing a secure environment related to a particular technology platform. Experience working with a automated ticketing system from problem identification, communication, and resolution.
