Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers.
  • Experience with planning and designing networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products, etc.).
  • Experience developing networking products, technologies, software and protocols.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Substantial operational experience with carrier-class routers and switches.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
  • Ability to debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks.
  • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.
  • Interest in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale networks.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $150000 - $217000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Drive innovation and create requirements and develop designs for new networking product ideas, process improvements, technology velocity, systems performance, and cost reductions across organizational boundaries.
  • Own the quantifiable analysis of measurements or data and capacity forecast models for making Google networks more scalable, efficient, and deliver a predictable user experience.
  • Evaluate the current inefficiencies, complexities, and flaws in network systems, and propose designs, software, and processes to improve them.
  • Own resolution for software, hardware, and other network and system problems by determining and recommending appropriate solutions in partnership with other engineering teams.
  • Lead and improve the entire life-cycle of a network including inception, network design, qualification, deployment, operation and optimization.
