Your role at Veezu:

As a Data Engineer, you'll build and maintain the data platform that powers reporting, analytics and data science across Veezu. Reporting into the Director of Data Engineering, you'll work hands-on with Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Python/PySpark and Power BI, bringing data in from our booking systems, databases and third-party APIs and shaping it into trusted, well-modelled datasets that the business relies on every day.

Who are Veezu?

Veezu is the UK's fastest growing taxi and private hire technology business operating across hundreds of UK towns and cities. We are a tech-driven on-demand mobility service that supports our hyper-local communities, helping them thrive and so much more!

What you’ll do:

  • Design, build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in Microsoft Fabric using Pipelines, Notebooks, Lakehouses, Warehouses and OneLake.
  • Write PySpark notebooks to ingest and transform data from SQL Server databases, REST APIs, SaaS applications and file-based exports.
  • Develop and optimise SQL transformations, stored procedures and Kimball-style star-schema data models.
  • Build and support Power BI semantic models and the datasets behind dashboards used by teams across the business.
  • Implement data quality, validation and reconciliation checks so numbers match across systems.
  • Monitor production pipelines and troubleshoot data, performance and refresh issues.
  • Use Git, automated testing and CI/CD to support reliable, repeatable deployments.
  • Maintain clear documentation, data lineage and engineering standards.
  • Work with analysts and business stakeholders to turn requirements into practical data solutions.
  • Be committed to maintaining our ISO27001 certification and set high standards for Information Security compliance.

What you’ll need:

Essential

  • 2-4 years' experience in a data engineering role.
  • Strong SQL skills, including complex transformations and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (or Azure Synapse / Data Factory and a willingness to move to Fabric).
  • Python and PySpark for data ingestion and transformation.
  • Experience integrating data from APIs and other external sources.
  • Good knowledge of data warehousing and dimensional modelling (Kimball).
  • Experience with Power BI and semantic models.
  • Understanding of data quality, testing and reconciliation, and experience with Git / source control.
  • Confidence communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • CI/CD and automated testing for data pipelines.
  • Microsoft Fabric certification (e.g. DP-600 or DP-700).
  • Lakehouse / medallion architecture design patterns.
  • Experience with data governance, security and lineage.
  • Experience with high-volume transactional data, ideally in transport, mobility or on-demand services.
