Benefits
Full description
AWS is growing its UK Public Sector Healthcare team and looking for a Solutions Architect who wants to help transform how the NHS delivers care to 67 million citizens. You will be the technical partner for NHS trusts, national health bodies, and Health Technology organisations, designing cloud architectures that address real clinical and operational challenges at national scale. From patient engagement platforms serving millions of patients to clinical AI that returns time to frontline clinicians, the problems you work on will have a direct, measurable impact on patient outcomes and NHS workforce capacity. You will join a collaborative, supportive team that values deep domain knowledge, technical curiosity, and the ability to build trust with senior healthcare stakeholders.
Key job responsibilities - Partner with NHS trusts, national health bodies, and Health Technology organisations to design and deliver cloud architectures that address clinical, operational, and data challenges at scale - Lead technical engagements including discovery workshops, architecture reviews, and proof-of-concept builds for healthcare workloads spanning AI/ML, analytics, interoperability, and IoT - Develop and present technical proposals to senior stakeholders including Chief Clinical Information Officers, Chief Technology Officers, and programme directors - Collaborate with AWS service teams to shape healthcare-relevant capabilities and bring customer feedback into the product roadmap - Create and share best practices, technical content, and reference architectures (e.g. white papers, code samples, blog posts) and educate about AWS technology through workshops, meetups, public speaking, or conferences
A day in the life One day you might be designing an architecture for a patient record system, the next running a proof-of-concept with a Health Tech ISV building for FHIR interoperability, the next advising an Integrated Care System on how clinical AI services can reduce administrative burden for GPs. You will work alongside Account Managers and senior NHS stakeholders, translating complex clinical requirements into practical cloud solutions. The work covers the full breadth of AWS services applied to problems that matter: connecting disparate health systems, enabling population-level analytics, and helping clinicians spend more time with patients. No two days look the same, and you will have the autonomy to play to your strengths.
About the team This role is in our Healthcare team supporting NHS trusts, NHS national bodies, and Health Tech ISVs across the UK. We respect that everyone has responsibilities and interests outside of work, and our roles afford the flexibility to be your best at work and at home.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or experience in a professional field or military - Experience in customer-facing roles - Experience in a technical role involving cloud computing, systems design, software development, or infrastructure architecture - Experience designing and building distributed systems or architectures in a production environment - Experience with generative AI or machine learning technologies in an enterprise environment - Experience communicating technical concepts across both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
Preferred Qualifications: - AWS certification, such as, AWS Solutions Architect, or a similar cloud certification - Experience working in or alongside UK healthcare organisations such as NHS trusts, Integrated Care Systems, or national healthcare bodies - Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards (HL7 FHIR, DICOM) or clinical data governance frameworks (NHS DSPT, DTAC) - Experience designing or deploying generative AI solutions at enterprise scale, including foundation model selection, retrieval-augmented generation, or responsible AI practices - Understanding of UK public sector procurement processes and frameworks - Experience mentoring or developing other technical professionals
