Senior Scala Engineer

The Mission

AtScale is the semantic layer for modern data and AI. We bridge the gap between complex cloud data platforms—like Snowflake, Databricks, and Google BigQuery—and the business users who need consistent, AI-ready analytics. We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Scala / TypeScript) to help us redefine how the world handles business intelligence.

The Impact You’ll Make

In this role, you will:

• Take features end-to-end across the full stack—from backend Scala engine APIs down to TypeScript UI components—without handing off work.
• Leverage AI tools across the development lifecycle for code generation, review, testing, and investigation, maintaining full ownership and accountability for everything you ship.
• Mentor fellow engineers through code reviews, onboarding, and unblocking technical hurdles to continuously raise the team's engineering standards.
• Navigate incomplete requirements independently by resolving ambiguity, proposing clear technical approaches, and driving execution forward.
• Collaborate asynchronously via strong written communication across remote teams in the US, Latin America, and Europe.

Who You Are

• You bring 7+ years of experience building, owning, and shipping production software end-to-end.
• You possess strong backend engineering skills with functional programming experience, specifically in Scala.
• You are fluent across the stack, with demonstrated experience in TypeScript and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• You have deep expertise in SQL along with a working understanding of relational databases and query behavior.
• You hold a track record of mentoring engineers, raising the technical bar, and thriving in fast-paced environments with asynchronous, written communication.
• You are comfortable in fast-paced environments where priorities can shift quickly.
• You value quality over speed and are curious about using AI to improve efficiency.
• You have experience with semantic layers, OLAP, dimensional modeling, or shipping LLM/AI-backed features to production (Nice to Have).
• You have experience with Kubernetes, containerized deployments, or BI/cloud data tools like Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Tableau (Nice to Have).
• You are based in or able to work East Coast (ET) hours.
