This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a L2 System Administrator based in United States.

This fully remote role provides L2 systems administration and infrastructure support within an enterprise environment.You will work across Windows and Linux systems, supporting servers, workstations, virtualization platforms, networks, and core IT services.The position combines hands-on troubleshooting with infrastructure maintenance, security, performance monitoring, and IT service management.You will investigate complex technical issues, resolve escalated tickets, and help keep critical systems reliable and secure.The role also includes advanced desktop support, system deployments, asset management, backup and recovery, and hardware troubleshooting.You’ll work independently while collaborating with technical teams and maintaining clear documentation and professional communication.It is an opportunity to strengthen your infrastructure expertise while contributing to a growing technology services environment.

Accountabilities

  • Windows systems administration: Administer Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 environments, including Active Directory management, system maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Linux administration: Support RHEL, Ubuntu, and CentOS environments, performing system maintenance, command-line operations, and shell scripting as required.
  • Server and infrastructure support: Troubleshoot and maintain server hardware, investigate infrastructure issues, and support overall system availability and performance.
  • Network troubleshooting: Diagnose connectivity and infrastructure issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, network printers, and related enterprise networking components.
  • Virtualization: Support VMware vSphere and Hyper-V environments, including troubleshooting and routine administration.
  • Backup and recovery: Perform and support enterprise backup and recovery operations while helping maintain reliable data protection processes.
  • Security and patch management: Support patching activities, monitor security compliance, and contribute to maintaining secure infrastructure configurations.
  • Performance monitoring: Monitor systems, identify performance issues, troubleshoot root causes, and implement appropriate optimization measures.
  • ITSM and incident resolution: Manage L2 tickets through established IT service management processes, following incident, escalation, and change-management procedures.
  • Advanced desktop support: Resolve complex Windows and Linux workstation issues, perform hardware diagnostics, and support software break-fix activities.
  • Deployment and IMAC operations: Support installations, moves, additions, and changes, as well as system imaging and automated deployments using tools such as SCCM, WDS, or comparable technologies.
  • Asset and peripheral management: Maintain hardware inventories and asset lifecycles while supporting enterprise printers, peripherals, network connectivity, and cable management.
  • Technical support operations: Provide technical assistance through client-facing support environments, including Tech Bar or Client Center operations.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate technical documentation, ticket records, procedures, and system information to support consistent service delivery.

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, or L2 technical support.
  • Windows expertise: Hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
  • Linux knowledge: Working knowledge of Linux system administration and command-line operations.
  • Virtualization: Practical experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or comparable virtualization technologies.
  • Networking: Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals and experience troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and network connectivity.
  • IT service management: Experience using IT ticketing systems and working within ITSM processes, including incident and change management.
  • Backup and recovery: Knowledge of enterprise backup, recovery, and data protection procedures.
  • Technical communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical issues and explain solutions clearly.
  • Problem-solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with a structured approach to diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems.
  • Independence and teamwork: Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with technical teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Government contract requirement: U.S. citizenship is required for this specific position due to contractual requirements.
  • Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft certifications, Linux certifications, or ITIL Foundation certification are preferred.
  • Automation and scripting: Experience with Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting technologies is a plus.
  • Cloud technologies: Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud environments is preferred.
  • Configuration and monitoring: Experience with monitoring platforms and configuration-management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef is advantageous.
  • Additional technical exposure: Experience with enterprise inventory systems or RingCentral CX/EX administration is a plus.
