We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Project Manager with healthcare construction experience to oversee the entire lifecycle of building or renovating medical facilities—from planning and design through construction and final closeout. This role is highly specialized, requiring a balance between standard construction management and strict adherence to healthcare regulations like infection prevention and medical equipment integration.
MAJOR Duties & Responsibilities• Lead healthcare construction projects from initiation through completion, managing scope, budget, schedule, quality, and compliance
- Serve as primary liaison between owners, architects, engineers, clinical staff, hospital administrators, subcontractors, and internal project teams
- Lead or oversee OAC meetings, meeting documentation, and additional project meetings as needed
- Manage project budgets, estimating, change orders, pay applications, and financial requirements
- Develop and maintain master schedules; coordinate updates and negotiate schedule changes with clients, owners, end users, subcontractors, and the Superintendent
- Manage RFIs, submittals, lead-time tracking, contract issuance, subcontractor onboarding, and drawing updates including NMAs and ACDs
- Oversee PC, PE, and APM responsibilities and facilitate coordination between office and field teams
- Review plans, specifications, and working drawings for constructability, code compliance, and complex MEP systems, including medical gases
- Lead estimating and preconstruction activities, including site walks, plan review, project takeoffs, scope development, subcontractor coordination, budgets, schedules, contract review, proposal review, clarifications, exclusions, and proposal packages.
- Manage projects from initial scope through design/build with architects and owners
- Coordinate specialized medical equipment procurement and installation
- Ensure compliance with OSHPD/HCAI, ADA, ICRA, life safety, and other healthcare requirements
- Conduct regular site inspections and address safety, infection-control, quality, and compliance issues, including stop-work authority when necessary
Skills & Abilities• Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Strong project management and team-coordination abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining project schedules and goals
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and working drawings
- Strong ability to work effectively with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and project teams
Qualifications• Healthcare construction project management experience, preferably in medical or healthcare environments
- Background in project budgets, schedules, estimating, change orders, and pay applications
- Proficiency with RFIs, submittals, OAC meetings, NMAs, and ACDs
- Knowledge of construction estimating, plan review, and project takeoffs
- Design/build project experience preferred
- Knowledge of complex MEP systems, including medical gases
- Specialized medical equipment coordination preferred
- Knowledge of OSHPD/HCAI, ADA, ICRA, and life safety requirements
- Ability to oversee PC, PE, and APM responsibilities as needed
