Key job responsibilities Own end-to-end production backend systems including databases, automated data pipelines, and processing services, ensuring high availability, security, and performance at Prime Air drone delivery scale

Design, build, and maintain software build, test, and deployment pipelines that enable rapid, safe, and reliable delivery of software changes to production

Architect and operate scalable data infrastructure on AWS (Aurora Serverless PostgreSQL, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, SQS, EventBridge, RDS Proxy, CloudWatch, IAM, Permission Management) handling large volumes of drone operational data with guaranteed data integrity and efficient processing

Drive infrastructure-as-code practices using CDK and CloudFormation, automating provisioning, configuration, and scaling of backend services across multiple environments

Demonstrate operational excellence through proactive monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues with a bias toward automation and self-healing systems

Design and develop scalable solutions using cloud-native architectures and microservices in a large distributed computing environment

Build and maintain resilient distributed systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, and cost-effective

Champion DevOps culture by breaking down silos between development and operations, advocating for observability, reliability, and continuous improvement across the team

Collaborate and communicate effectively with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians (Engineering and Science) to design, build, and operate innovative products and services that delight our customers, while participating in technical discussions to drive solutions forward

Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation

Write clean, maintainable code following best practices and design patterns

Leverage and contribute to the development of GenAI and AI-powered tools to enhance development productivity while staying current with emerging technologies

Work in an agile environment practicing CI/CD principles while participating in operational responsibilities including on-call duties

Continuously improve system reliability and efficiency through capacity planning, performance profiling, cost optimization, and security hardening

Basic Qualifications: - Education Requirements (must meet one): - Currently enrolled in Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related STEM fields - Completed Bachelor's or Graduate degree in specified fields - Expected graduation between October 2025 - September 2026, OR graduated within the last 24 months - Demonstrated experience with at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript - Demonstrated experience one or more of the following: Data structures implementation, Basic algorithm development, Object-oriented design principles, Databases, AWS Services

Preferred Qualifications: - Previous technical internship(s) or demonstrated project experience - Experienced with AWS (Aurora Serverless PostgreSQL, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, SQS, EventBridge, RDS Proxy, CloudWatch) - DevOps Experience - Experienced handling large volumes of operational data with guaranteed data integrity and efficient processing - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly - Basic understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)

For this position, we offer the minimum gross base salary listed below (incl. 13-14 monthly salary). The base salary listed corresponds to working on a full time basis. For part-time hours, the salary will be pro-rated.

In accordance with the applicable legal requirements, we also state that the minimum salary for this position is determined by the relevant collective bargaining agreement. Depending on experience and qualifications, there is a willingness to overpay. There may be further pay components such as a sign-on payment. In addition, the candidate may be eligible to participate in a restricted stock unit award operated independently by Amazon.com Inc. in the US.
