Job Title: Data Platform Engineer (Databricks)
Location: Los Angeles, CA / Irvine, CA / Seattle, WA / New York, NY (3 days onsite/week)

Project Description
This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, data engineering, and data product development for a leading enterprise client. The engineer will build reusable platform capabilities and data products enabling quantitative researchers to discover, access, and consume data across a complex data landscape, then accelerate promising prototypes into production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and enhance platform capabilities within Databricks and related technologies
- Build reusable data products and self-service capabilities
- Design and maintain data pipelines and integration frameworks
- Improve data quality, reliability, lineage, and monitoring
- Partner with researchers to prototype solutions and establish patterns that streamline research-to-production delivery
Mandatory Skills
- 8+ years of platform and data solutions experience
- Hands-on Databricks experience (workspace, notebooks, jobs) and platform capability development
- Python
- SQL
- Modern CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform strongly preferred)
- Data governance and observability (Unity Catalog, lineage, monitoring)
- Orchestration (Airflow)
- AI fluency — hands-on use of AI agents (Claude Code preferred) to design, build, test, and support solutions
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Financial domain experience, especially quant research
- API development
- PowerBI
