This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Power BI Developer based in the United States.
This is a senior, client-facing opportunity for a Power BI professional who combines advanced technical expertise with strong data visualization and consulting skills.You will design enterprise-scale analytics solutions that turn complex business questions into clear, actionable insights.The role spans the full BI lifecycle, from discovery and data modeling through dashboard design, deployment, and adoption.You’ll work directly with stakeholders across industries including financial services, retail, CPG, and construction.Beyond development, you’ll shape UX standards, improve data governance, and champion accessible, intuitive analytics experiences.You’ll also mentor other professionals and contribute to reusable frameworks that strengthen delivery capabilities across engagements.Success will come from becoming a trusted advisor who can connect technical decisions with measurable business outcomes.

Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Power BI solutions, including semantic models, star schemas, composite and tabular models, dashboards, paginated reports, and embedded analytics.
- Develop advanced DAX measures, time-intelligence calculations, calculation groups, and optimized Power Query (M) transformations while troubleshooting performance using tools such as DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, and Performance Analyzer.
- Implement Power BI governance and enterprise capabilities, including Row-Level Security, workspace management, deployment pipelines, gateways, dataflows, incremental refresh, naming standards, and semantic model documentation.
- Integrate Power BI with enterprise data platforms and technologies such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, SQL Server, and related Power Platform services.
- Lead discovery workshops and stakeholder discussions to translate ambiguous business needs into defined KPIs, data requirements, user journeys, success measures, and actionable BI solutions.
- Create wireframes and intuitive dashboard experiences using strong UX/UI, information design, accessibility, visual hierarchy, data storytelling, and visualization principles.
- Establish reusable design systems, themes, templates, and component standards to create consistent, high-quality analytics experiences across client engagements.
- Conduct usability reviews, UAT sessions, office hours, and iterative feedback cycles to improve dashboard effectiveness and drive user adoption.
- Define and monitor adoption and usage metrics, identifying opportunities to improve, redesign, or retire underutilized reporting solutions.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders, including analysts, business leaders, and executives, clearly communicating technical concepts, findings, recommendations, and design decisions.
- Support proposal development, statements of work, project estimation, and client-facing presentations for BI engagements.
- Mentor junior developers and analysts while promoting technical excellence, design quality, governance, and consistent delivery practices.
- Contribute to reusable accelerators, templates, frameworks, and delivery methodologies that improve efficiency and scalability across projects.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
- Expert-level proficiency with DAX and Power Query (M), with strong knowledge of dimensional modeling, star schemas, normalization trade-offs, and enterprise semantic models.
- Demonstrated ability to design dashboards with a strong UX/UI and data storytelling perspective, with a portfolio or representative work samples strongly preferred.
- Proven experience independently leading stakeholder workshops, gathering requirements, defining KPIs, and translating business questions into technical solutions.
- Solid SQL skills and experience working with at least one enterprise data platform such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, or SQL Server.
- Experience delivering solutions in a consulting, client-facing, agency, systems integration, or internal consulting environment.
- Strong understanding of Power BI Service, governance, deployment pipelines, security, performance optimization, and enterprise reporting practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present solutions and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Ability to balance technical depth with business understanding, user experience, and practical delivery considerations.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, Azure DevOps, Git, Power Apps, Power Automate, or Power BI Embedded is advantageous.
- Microsoft certifications such as PL-300 or DP-500, or equivalent credentials, are preferred.
- Familiarity with Dataiku, Alteryx, data preparation platforms, formal BI design systems, information design, or established data storytelling methodologies is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to establish reusable standards and improve BI adoption, with an expectation of independently delivering a client-facing dashboard suite through discovery, development, and adoption within the first six months.
