Job Title: DevOps Engineer
Location: Palo Alto, CA
Work Model: Full in office.
Purpose and Objective:
SAP Labs, LLC seeks a DevOps Engineer at our Palo Alto, CA location to enable effective and efficient delivery of cloud services, focusing on the service uptime, performance, and scalability.
Expectations and Tasks:
Serve as a bridge between product and reliability engineering and scaled-out cloud portfolio deliver and operations, leveraging strong knowledge of cloud products as well as understanding harmonized cloud delivery of the SAP cloud services’ portfolio. Develop and automate infrastructure and workflows, aligned with best practices and operational goals, to streamline software delivery. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering) to ensure smooth and frequent software delivery and improve software performance and health. Monitor system performance and work with cross-functional teams to incorporate incident feedback into future updates, as well as detect and prevent issues proactively. Ensure compliance and effectiveness in software delivery and operational standards. Reduce deployment cycles and improve software quality, enabling businesses to release features and fixes quickly.
Education and Occupational Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field of study and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation. Alternatively, a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field of study and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
Qualifications/Skills and Competencies Experience:
Experience must include three (3) years involving each of the following:
- CI/CD automation using Jenkins, ArgoCD, GitOps, Helm, and Terraform;
- Kubernetes and Hashi Corp cluster management;
- Public cloud platforms using Google, Azure, or AWS;
- Monitoring and observability tools including Splunk, Cloud Logging Search (CLS), and Dynatrace;
- Data frame API, Data analysis, data extraction, and transformations;
- Python and common frameworks;
- Working with SAP technologies, including SAP BTP, SAP AI Core, HANA Cloud, HANA Spark, and HANA Data Lake Filesystem; and
- Application Testing and Quality Assurance.
Experience must include two (2) years involving each of the following:
- Designing and developing large scale data intensive applications; and
- Java or Python based Microservices and REST APIs development.

Compensation Range Transparency: The annual base salary range for this position is $162,260 - $206,460. SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $162,260 - $229,400. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
