Product Manager - Vessel Configuration at ZeroNorth

Vessel Configuration is a newly formed team with a clear mandate: transform how vessels are connected to the ZeroNorth platform in an AI-first world. Creating a digital twin of a physical vessel is the prerequisite for everything else. Get it right and the entire platform delivers value from day one.

Reporting to the Director of Product, you will lead the product strategy and day-to-day execution for a newly formed, strategically important product area. From the moment a contract is signed through to ongoing configuration changes and eventual offboarding, you own the end-to-end lifecycle of how vessels are connected to the platform.

You'll work closely with a dedicated engineering team, design, and cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the product areas that depend on accurate vessel configuration data. You will also collaborate with a set of platform and enabling teams covering sensor pipelines, fleet telemetry, and Naval Architecture, whose capabilities underpin your work.

This role is about more than onboarding vessels. It carries a bigger question: what should vessel lifecycle management look like in an AI-first world, where the process shifts from being operated by humans inside ZeroNorth to a semi-automated, self-service experience owned by the customer. You will have real ownership over the answer, leading the product discovery and delivery process from idea to launch, working directly with customers, collaborating with stakeholders, and staying focused on what moves the needle.

Key responsibilities:

  • The end-to-end vessel onboarding and offboarding experience, with a clear goal of reducing time to value significantly for customers and their fleet managers
  • Vessel particulars and configuration management, ensuring the platform always has an accurate, up-to-date profile for every connected vessel
  • Sensor data integration, working with engineering to automate how vessel sensor channels are mapped and validated on the platform
  • The interface between Vessel Configuration and dependent product areas, ensuring Vessel Reporting, Vessel Performance, and others can reliably access accurate vessel data
  • Roadmap execution, translating the product vision into a clear, sequenced plan and driving delivery against it.

Your profile:

  • 3+ years in product management, ideally in a domain with technical or integration complexity, with a track record of owning operationally grounded product problems in a B2B SaaS environment
  • Discovery skills. You know how to get to the real problem, not the stated one, and you approach discovery with structure and curiosity rather than jumping straight to solutions
  • Data instincts. You define success measures before you build and track them after you ship. Data informs your decisions and keeps the team honest about what is actually working
  • User empathy. You build understanding of your users through regular, direct contact and a genuine ability to earn their trust. You ask good questions and ensure the team is solving the right problems the right way
  • Stakeholder management. You work effectively across commercial, customer success, and engineering, navigate competing priorities with clarity, and communicate your thinking clearly to senior audiences
  • Clear communicator, written and verbal. You write PRDs that engineering teams can act on and present your thinking in a way that drives decisions
  • AI-native working style. You use tools like Claude as a core part of how you work, to move faster, think more clearly, and do more with less
  • Comfortable owning products that serve both end users and platform consumers, with an awareness of what each needs
  • Good technical instincts. You are comfortable working through data modelling, integration design, and automation logic with an engineering team
  • Systems thinker. You look at a complex workflow and see the product hiding inside it. You understand that changes in this domain can have consequences elsewhere and sequence your work accordingly
  • Collaborative by nature. This role sits at the intersection of multiple product, platform, and enabling teams. You are energised by cross-functional, technically layered environments rather than intimidated by them, and you know how to keep things moving without owning everything
  • Maritime experience or education is a plus, but not a requirement. What we value is genuine curiosity about how vessels operate and a passion to transform a centuries-old industry
