Java, Microservices/Senior Consultant Specialist

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist.

In this role, you will:

• Design, build and maintain secure and reliable Java services using approved design and coding standards

• Deliver end-to-end changes across the lifecycle - from design and build through deployment and production support

• Oversee delivery within a small pod using Agile ways of working and MSS engineering practices

• Implement continuous incremental delivery with a focus on quality builds and frequent releases

• Automate testing and deployment through DevOps and CI/CD tooling

• Apply practices such as pair programming, test-driven development and continuous improvement

• Partner with the Product Owner on technology and architecture decisions including backlog grooming and cloud migration prioritisation

• Strengthen platform stability by addressing technical debt, cyber security and vulnerabilities and improving performance and availability

• Build observability through automated monitoring and alerting to identify issues early and reduce manual effort

• Support migrations and workload deployment to IKP (Internal Kubernetes Platform) and GCP (Google Cloud Platform)

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Bring hands-on application design and development experience in Java

• Apply strong back-end engineering capability across microservice architecture, Java 17, Spring Boot, Spring Framework and SQL

• Build effective automated unit tests including JUnit test cases

• Demonstrate understanding of collateral margin call processes and disputes workflows

• Use database technologies including Oracle and PostgreSQL

• Apply experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tooling in a continuous delivery environment

• Show experience modernising technology stacks such as moving from monoliths to microservices while improving resiliency and scalability

• Communicate problems and solutions clearly to business stakeholders, developers and business analysts

• Work effectively within group standards, policies and engineering best practices
