What you'll do...
Role summary: The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, leads platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and roadmap milestones. This role oversees infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks that support scalable, secure development while driving full lifecycle management across multiple teams. The position champions DevOps practices, cloud cost optimization, and technical excellence to deliver high-availability systems. Collaborating across engineering, product, and data teams, the manager guides architectural decisions, mentors engineers, and manages complex initiatives to achieve business goals with a focus on continuous improvement and operational success. About the team: Our team spans the US and India, developing systems that manage software dependencies across thousands of repositories. We enforce software lifecycle and security policies in production, automate CI/CD failure diagnosis and remediation using AI and machine learning, and enhance CI/CD experiences. Combining platform engineering, distributed systems, developer experience, AI-driven architecture, security, and compliance, the team emphasizes automation, self-service, reliability, and reducing engineering effort at scale. This collaborative environment fosters innovation and operational excellence to effectively support Walmart’s technology objectives. What you'll do:
- Lead platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems, ensuring alignment with domain priorities and roadmap milestones.
- Oversee shared infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks to support scalable, secure, and reusable development.
- Drive full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, promoting DevOps architecture and CI/CD best practices.
- Manage cloud cost optimization and enhance automation, telemetry, and tooling to reduce operational friction.
- Mentor engineers, guide architectural decisions, and uphold technical quality and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business goals and track key performance metrics.
- Foster continuous improvement through innovation, experimentation, and effective project delivery.
What you'll bring:
- Proven leadership in platform engineering, overseeing software and AI/ML system execution aligned with strategic roadmaps.
- Expertise in managing full software development lifecycle, including DevOps architecture and CI/CD practices.
- Experience guiding architectural reviews and system design for scalable, maintainable, and high-performance platforms.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and foster technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Proficient in stakeholder management, aligning technical initiatives with business goals and tracking key performance indicators.
- Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude and strategic execution in complex technical environments.
- Strong in Java, J2EE, Spring, JVM internals, concurrency, multithreading, service oriented architecture, and RESTful web services.
- Solid fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, SQL, and relational databases

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
