SUMMARY

The Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the organization’s security infrastructure and cybersecurity program. This role protects systems, networks, applications, and data from cyber threats while ensuring compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements. The Cybersecurity Engineer works closely with IT infrastructure, cloud, networking, and business teams to identify vulnerabilities, respond to incidents, and strengthen the organization’s overall security posture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, implement, and manage security solutions including firewalls, endpoint protection, email security, MFA, SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management tools.
  • Monitor security alerts and investigate suspicious activities, security incidents, and potential breaches.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, and security audits.
  • Manage and support endpoint detection and response (EDR/XDR) platforms.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, standards, procedures, and documentation.
  • Coordinate incident response activities, containment efforts, remediation, and post-incident analysis.
  • Administer identity and access management systems including privileged access controls.
  • Support cloud security initiatives for Azure, AWS, and/or Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Review and harden system configurations according to security best practices.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and networking teams to secure enterprise environments.
  • Assist with security awareness training and phishing prevention initiatives.
  • Support compliance efforts related to PCI-DSS, HIPAA, SOX, ISO 27001, NIST, or other regulatory frameworks.
  • Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity security requirements.
  • Evaluate emerging threats and recommend security improvements and technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of cybersecurity or IT infrastructure experience.
  • Strong understanding of networking, TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, VPNs, and firewalls.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 security technologies including Defender, Entra ID, Intune, and Conditional Access.
  • Experience with SIEM platforms such as Sentinel, or Rapid7.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management platforms such as Nessus, Qualys, or Rapid7.
  • Experience securing cloud platforms including Azure and/or AWS.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, and Zero Trust architecture.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and incident response skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
