About Datavations

Datavations is a leading New York-based data and AI software specializing in the $2.3 trillion dollar building materials industry. Datavations gives building materials and home improvement manufacturers real-time, store-level visibility into pricing, assortment, and inventory across major retailers, including Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Menards. Manufacturers use this data to make sharper decisions about pricing, distribution, and how they show up on the shelf.

About the role

As a Forward Deployed Analytics Engineer, you will:

  • Manage client relationships and provide technical support to maintain excellence and drive new product development
  • Attain a holistic understanding of the entire technology from data aggregation to product delivery
  • Develop and scale the technology from ‘data pipelining’ to ‘innovation’, to ensure accuracy of our data, as measured against client feedback
  • Develop new product lines such as local pricing, ecommerce intelligence, and supply chain analysis to drive ROI for clients
  • Leverage Data Visualization and UI/UX knowledge to increase customer adoption and ease of use
  • Collaborate with our data science, engineering, and sales teams
  • Adopt a self-starter mentality, and inspire other team members to do the same
  • Commit to rigorous documentation of coding efforts and train incoming employees
  • Lead a team of data scientists and data analysts to deliver timely and accurate innovations to solve client needs

Technical skills

  • Outstanding expertise and hands on experience in SQL and familiarity with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Google BigQuery, ClickHouse). Clickhouse is a major plus.
  • Proven experience building, deploying, and maintaining dimensional data models using dbt
  • Project management tools (e.g. Jira)
  • Data visualization (e.g. Tableau, Excel, Power BI, Retool)
  • Understanding of time-series statistical methods for outlier detection (Prophet, ARIMA, Tukeys Fences)

Experience

  • Project management, leading 2+ developers
  • Building end-to-end data products
  • Driving actionable insights from alternative data sources
  • Retail/e-commerce, market research, startup, or analytical experience
  • Working with retail or consumer data
  • Scaling BI infrastructure to 10Tb+ data ingestion
  • Hacker mentality

Compensation

The average range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000 depending on experience, skills, and alignment with the role’s responsibilities. This range reflects our current national expectations for qualified candidates. Exceptional candidates based in our NYC office may be considered for a higher range. Total compensation may also include equity, performance bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package.
