Are you a fit?

We are seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team in building and scaling our next-generation automated translation and localization platform. In this role, you will work closely with our engineering and product teams to integrate state-of-the-art AI/LLM models and machine translation engines into our enterprise content-processing ecosystem.

You will design and implement high-performance microservices, event-driven pipelines, and robust APIs to support global media expansion, multi-language publishing, and real-time content delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Development: Develop and enhance core translation services and backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.

• AI & LLM Integration: Integrate cutting-edge AI/LLM translation capabilities and direct LLM/machine translation provider APIs into our content processing infrastructure.

• Optimization & Evaluation: Support direct integrations with translation providers; continually evaluate and improve translation quality, system scalability, cost efficiency, and latency.

• API & Event Pipelines: Build highly available, reliable REST APIs and Kafka-driven asynchronous pipelines for processing high-volume content and translation tasks.

• Operational Excellence: Implement end-to-end monitoring, logging, error handling, retries, automated testing, and validation mechanisms for complex translation workflows.

• Scale & Performance: Drive performance tuning and architecture enhancements to handle increasing translation volumes seamlessly.

• Production Support: Assist with production deployments, CI/CD pipelines, system monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure platform stability.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional engineering teams, product managers, and key stakeholders on technical design, system architecture, code reviews, and documentation.

• Global Expansion: Contribute to the long-term evolution of the platform to support international expansion, additional languages, and diverse content formats across major media brands (including WSJ and international outlets).

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

• Core Backend: Proven expertise in Java and Spring Boot for building scalable RESTful APIs and enterprise microservices.

• Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other major public cloud environments.

• Event-Driven Architecture: Experience with Apache Kafka or similar messaging systems for event-driven architectures and streaming pipelines.

• AI / Translation Tech: Experience integrating LLMs, AI APIs, or Machine Translation (MT) technologies and multilingual content workflows.

• Software Engineering Practices: Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (unit, integration, e2e), code reviews, and Agile methodologies.

• Communication: Excellent technical communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English.

Preferred / Nice to Have:

• Prior experience building or maintaining content management platforms (CMS), digital publishing systems, or media workflows.

• Experience evaluating LLM prompt engineering, fine-tuning, or MT quality estimation metrics (e.g., BLEU, COMET).

  • Commitment to Professional Development
  • Flexible and Collaborative Culture
  • Global Opportunities
  • Vibrant Community
  • Total Rewards
