Position Overview
Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Austin, Texas, Baxter Planning is a dynamic and rapidly growing company setting the standard for SaaS in the service supply chain planning space. We are developing new products and solutions to build on our success in the market and grow our AI capabilities.
Baxter Planning combines the flexibility of a start up with the stability of an established company, leveraging 31 years of industry expertise to support a rapidly growing customer base. We offer excellent benefits, an exciting and supportive work environment, and excellent work-life balance. This role will be based in our Barcelona office with the flexibility to work from home 1-2 days per week.
As the Senior Technical Product Manager, you will define how Baxter Planning's proprietary data assets are structured, governed, and turned into products — both as the foundation for our own analytics and AI-powered capabilities, and as new offerings delivered directly to customers and partners. This role spans both ends of the value chain: you will partner closely with our Data Engineering and Data Science teams to ensure our data lake is modeled and structured for reliable consumption, and you will personally own discovery, validation, and requirements definition for one of our core data-driven product experiences — talking directly to customers, evaluating competitive offerings, and translating what you learn into a validated roadmap. This is a highly autonomous, high-visibility role that requires equal parts technical fluency, customer-facing discovery skill, and business judgment — you will be accountable for translating both a technical asset and a customer problem into a business outcome.
Purpose, Scope and Responsibilities
Strategy & Vision
- Define and own the strategy for how Baxter's proprietary data assets create value — across internal products and new external product opportunities
- Build and maintain a roadmap that connects data platform investment directly to company goals and business outcomes, and defend prioritization tradeoffs with leadership
- Identify and evaluate new data product opportunities, including market and competitive landscape input to inform business cases
- Partner with Legal to understand data rights and constraints across existing customer contracts, and identify where new agreements or terms are needed to support future data product opportunities
Product Discovery & Requirements
- Own discovery and validation for a core reporting and insights product experience — conducting customer interviews, synthesizing feedback, and defining validated business requirements
- Evaluate competitive offerings in the market to inform positioning, differentiation, and roadmap prioritization
- Translate customer and market insights into clear, prioritized product requirements, in partnership with Design and Engineering
Data Foundation & Platform Partnership
- Partner with Data Engineering and Data Science to define how data should be modeled, structured, and governed in the data lake and product databases so it can be reliably consumed by analytics, products, AI/ML capabilities, and external offerings
- Partner with Data Engineering to define data quality, reliability, and governance standards — including privacy and regulatory considerations — appropriate for data that will be exposed to products or shared externally
- Act as the connective tissue between data foundation teams and downstream product teams — translating technical structure into product and business requirements
- Advise product teams across the portfolio on how to leverage governed data to power AI-driven product capabilities
Product & External Offerings
- Define and manage the roadmap for external data offerings and services, from concept through launch
- Support pricing and packaging discussions for external data offerings, partnering with GTM and Finance
- Own go-to-market readiness for data products in partnership with GTM, Customer Experience, and Legal
- Establish adoption and usage metrics for data products and hold the roadmap accountable to them
Execution & Stakeholder Leadership
- Operate autonomously as the accountable owner for roadmap execution — coordinating across Data Engineering, Product, Design, Legal, and GTM stakeholder teams
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear business narratives for executive and customer audiences
- Represent the data platform in cross-functional planning and prioritization forums
Job Requirements
Required
- 7+ years of product management experience, ideally primary ownership of data, platform, or API products
- Experience managing platform-level products or services consumed by multiple internal or external teams
- Strong technical fluency — able to hold your own in data modeling, architecture, and API design conversations with Engineering
- Direct experience owning product discovery — customer interviews, requirements definition, and competitive analysis — not solely execution against a pre-defined roadmap
- Working knowledge of and experience managing data governance and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and how they shape decisions about structuring, accessing, and sharing data
- Proven ability to build a roadmap independently, link it to company and business outcomes, and be accountable for its execution — not just planning
- Track record of driving cross-functional execution across engineering, data, legal, and GTM stakeholders with minimal oversight
- Strong business acumen — able to translate technical capability into a commercial narrative and business case
- Working knowledge of how governed/structured data enables AI and ML-driven product capabilities
- Personally fluent with AI tools in day-to-day product management work (e.g., research synthesis, spec drafting, roadmap planning) — Baxter Planning's product organization operates as an AI-first team, and this role is expected to model that way of working
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant field
Preferred
- Exposure to monetizing data assets — e.g., data licensing, data-as-a-service, or paid API/data products
- Experience in a B2B SaaS or platform company where data was sold or licensed as a standalone product
- Experience owning data-driven or reporting-heavy products
- Familiarity with data licensing agreements, contract structures, and pricing models
- Experience with cloud data lake/warehouse ecosystems (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS)
- Supply chain, logistics, or service parts planning domain experience
- Working knowledge of Agile/SCRUM frameworks, JIRA, and Confluence
- Strong communication and negotiation skills; fluency in English
