We are seeking a

BI Data Engineer (f/m/d)

to support data-driven decision-making across commodity trading operations.

The role involves developing dashboards, analyzing trading performance, monitoring market and risk metrics, and partnering with traders, risk managers, operations teams, and senior management.

Your responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain BI dashboards and reporting solutions covering trading activities, risk management, P&L performance, and operational metrics.
  • Develop and enhance reports such as monthly P&L, mark-to-market valuations, trade lifecycle metrics, inventory management, logistics performance, and risk exposures and limits.
  • Integrate and consolidate data from trading platforms, market data providers, ERP systems, and data warehouses to ensure consistent and reliable reporting.
  • Design and maintain data models and ETL processes to support scalable analytics and efficient data delivery.
  • Automate manual reporting activities, streamline workflows, and continuously improve data quality and reporting accuracy.
  • Monitor key market indicators, identify relevant trends, and assess their potential impact on trading performance and business results.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into analytical solutions, reports, and meaningful data visualizations.

Your profile

  • Proven experience in Business Intelligence, analytics, and reporting, including dashboard development and data visualization.
  • Strong expertise in KPI design, performance analysis, and translating complex data into actionable business insights.
  • Solid knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, ETL processes, and data quality management.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large datasets in relational database environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Fabric and BI tools such as Power BI, QlikView, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Python and/or Spark for data analysis, automation, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data and analytics platforms, preferably Azure and/or AWS.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable analytical solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with traders, risk managers, operations teams, and other business stakeholders in a dynamic trading environment.
  • Fluency in both English and German is required, Spanish language skills are an advantage.
