Love building pipelines that engineers actually trust? We’re looking for a hands-on Platform Engineer to take ownership of CI/CD for our Dataworks team, and to do it with AI agentic tooling that’s already built and ready to use.

In that time, Neilson ANZ has launched six brands across the funeral and life insurance markets and become the country’s third largest direct distributor of life insurance.

Our values underpin everything we do: Customer Focused — we earn our customers’ loyalty by exceeding their expectations. Results Driven — we are passionate about results through hard work, continuous improvement, and a professional approach. Team Spirited — as individuals we are good, but as a team we are better.

The role

Our core Platform Engineering team is focused on foundational infrastructure and AI skills, which means this role owns the day-to-day pipeline work end to end. You’ll have real autonomy, shared templates to build from, and a clear picture of what success looks like.

What you’ll be doing

  • Building, maintaining, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines across GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps Pipelines
  • Working directly with Dataworks engineers to turn their delivery needs into reliable, repeatable pipelines
  • Deploying to Azure with Terraform or Bicep, including AKS where applicable
  • Building security scanning, auditability, and change control into every pipeline
  • Using AI coding tools and agentic workflows to speed up development and migration work, and feeding back so we can improve them
  • Documenting everything so the Dataworks team can own it when your term ends

What you’ll bring

  • 4+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, or build/release engineering
  • Genuine hands-on depth across more than one of GitLab, GitHub, and Azure DevOps
  • Production Azure experience, including networking, Entra ID, and compute
  • Terraform or Bicep, plus scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Practical experience using AI coding agents or building agentic workflows in real delivery work
  • A solid grasp of the SDLC, including branching, environment promotion, and change control
  • Full work rights in Australia - no sponsorship provided

Nice to have: data pipeline experience, financial services or other regulated industry background, Kubernetes and Helm, Azure certifications.

Why join us

  • A clearly scoped 6-month fixed-term role with defined 30-day, 3-month, and 6-month goals
  • Hybrid working: three days in our central Sydney office on Pitt Street, two days from home
  • Subsidised catered lunch up to $22
  • Hands-on work with AI agentic tooling in a regulated environment where engineering quality matters
