Overview
Nakupuna Companies is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to configure, manage, secure, and optimize both physical on-premises data network infrastructure and logical AWS GovCloud data networks. This role ensures high availability, strict federal compliance, and secure hybrid connectivity between physical data centers and US Government cloud environments.
Responsibilities

- Hybrid Infrastructure Design: Create scalable network topologies linking physical data centers to AWS GovCloud regions.
- GovCloud Infrastructure: Build and manage logical cloud networks, including VPCs, GovCloud Transit Gateways, Route 53, and Elastic Load Balancing.
- Switch Configuration: Configure, deploy, and maintain enterprise-grade network switches, routers, and firewalls on-premises.
- Secure Connectivity: Implement and maintain AWS Direct Connect and secure IPSec VPN tunnels for government workloads.
- Compliance Integration: Enforce network security controls aligned with FedRAMP High, NIST SP 800-53, and DoD Impact Level (IL) 4/5 frameworks.
- Troubleshooting & Optimization: Monitor hybrid performance, troubleshoot routing loops, and conduct deep packet analysis using Wireshark.
Qualifications
Skills/Qualifications:
- AWS GovCloud Networking: Deep expertise in VPC peering, Security Groups, Network ACLs, and AWS Network Firewall.
- Hardware Proficiency: Hands-on experience configuring Cisco, Dell, Juniper, or Arista switches and routers.
- Protocols & Standards: Mastery of TCP/IP stack, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, IPv4/IPv6, and complex sub-netting.
- Government Security: Solid understanding of IAM policies, VPC Flow Logs, and encryption in transit (TLS/IPSec).
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or Information Technology.
- 4 to 7 years of enterprise physical networking experience with at least 2 years focused on AWS environments.
Certifications: AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty or CCNP Enterprise required.
Clearance: This position requires a Secret Clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.
