Key Facts

Location: Germany (Erding / On-Site Hybrid) Language: German (Native/Fluent) & English (Fluent) Compensation: Depending on your experience, performance, and background (€80k–€120k) The Mission & Role

While others design the circuits, you make the silicon think. You own the embedded software that turns ARM-Cortex processors into reliable, real-world systems. You write the firmware that lives close to the metal, understands the physics of the hardware, and delivers clean, deterministic behavior under real operating conditions. Part low-level architect, part pragmatic problem-solver, part team player who prefers solutions over new problems. You don’t just write code — you take full ownership of the software foundation our products depend on. What You Will Do

  • Embedded Firmware Development: You design, implement, and maintain firmware for ARM-Cortex based systems (Cortex-M, Cortex-A, or similar). You work close to the hardware — registers, peripherals, interrupts, timers, DMA, and real-time constraints.
  • Hardware-Software Interface: You bring up new boards, write drivers, and ensure clean interaction between firmware and the underlying electronics. You understand what the signals on the scope actually mean.
  • Physics-Aware Engineering: You treat physics as a first-class citizen. Thermal behavior, signal integrity, timing, power domains, and real-world noise are part of your daily thinking — not afterthoughts.
  • Independent Ownership: You plan, prioritize, and execute your work autonomously. You identify risks early, propose solutions, and drive topics from concept to working, tested firmware.
  • Team Collaboration: You communicate openly and honestly. You share knowledge, give and take feedback directly, and contribute to a culture that values clarity over politics.
  • Solution Focus: You actively look for robust, maintainable solutions. When problems appear, you own them and resolve them instead of creating new ones.

Your first 5 months – What You’ll Be Proud to Have Achieved

  • You have familiarized yourself with the chip architecture and have developed the first rapid firmware solutions to test and validate key features.
  • You have closed at least one complex hardware-software interaction issue by combining measurement, analysis, and pragmatic code changes.
  • You have established or improved a practical development/test workflow that reduces friction for the team.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Experience & Mindset: Solid experience in embedded C development on ARM-Cortex processors. You have already shipped firmware that runs in real products. A strong foundation in physics or the clear will to deepen that knowledge is essential.
  • Ownership & Autonomy: You work self-directed and self-managing. You don’t wait to be told the next step — you see what needs doing and do it.
  • Technical Depth: You are comfortable reading datasheets, debugging with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, and writing efficient, reliable low-level code. Understanding of real-time systems, interrupts, and hardware constraints is natural for you.
  • Team Culture Fit: You value open, honest communication and prefer solving problems over discussing them endlessly. You are solution-oriented by nature.
  • Nice to have: Experience with RTOS, bare-metal development, FPGAs and VHDL/VERILOG or previous work in industrial or similarly demanding environments.

Why Join Us?

  • Mission with Real Impact: Work on technologies that support police and military forces in modern defence operations — in an environment where communication has direct strategic relevance.
  • Ownership & Growth: You will have genuine influence on how Lateration presents itself externally and how the company is positioned within the defence-tech ecosystem.
  • Strong Team & Environment: We offer a highly supportive team culture, close collaboration with founders, and a pragmatic “no one gets left out in the rain” mindset.
  • Flexible & Supportive Environment: We offer a remote-friendly setup, flexible working hours, a supportive team culture, and a shuttle service from Erding station to our HQ.

We are looking for someone who wants to build real systems — not just write code. If you enjoy the intersection of software, hardware, and physics, and if you prefer ownership and clear results over bureaucracy, we should talk. Contact

About us

Lateration builds technology where failure is not an option.

We don't develop theoretical concept studies: We build field-ready systems that give armed forces an unfair tactical advantage. As a VC-backed defense tech startup headquartered in Munich, we deliver the communications and positioning backbone for critical defense programs. Our hardware and software ecosystems secure operational superiority under intense electronic warfare conditions: from GPS-denied navigation and tactical mesh networks to precise friend-or-foe identification. We are scaling our team from 40 to 70+ specialists and are looking for people who take full ownership at the system level. We don't need seat-fillers — we need builders who solve complex problems and bring uncompromising functional maturity directly to the field.
