Senior Agile Delivery Manager

Role Summary

The role owns cross-squad delivery coordination, delivery visibility, risk and dependency management, ways of working, and continuous improvement. It works closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, engineering teams, Quality, DevOps and Design.

This is a senior individual-contributor role with no current direct reports.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain integrated delivery plans based on agreed product priorities, engineering capacity and dependencies.

• Coordinate milestones, releases and commitments across multiple squads.

• Maintain clear delivery forecasts and communicate progress, risks, dependencies and changes.

• Drive the resolution of blockers by assigning clear owners, following through and escalating when required.

• Lead recovery planning when delivery commitments are at risk.

• Facilitate effective planning, refinement, daily coordination rituals, reviews and retrospectives.

• Apply Scrum, Kanban and other delivery practices according to team and product context.

• Improve collaboration and handoffs across Product, Engineering, Quality, DevOps and Design.

• Improve Azure DevOps workflows, boards, dashboards and reporting through different data visualization tools to provide reliable delivery visibility.

• Track delivery health using appropriate measures such as cycle time, throughput, work-item age, predictability and Sprint Goal achievement.

• Work with Engineering Managers and chapter leads to assess engineering effectiveness across areas such as CI/CD, test automation, release practices, quality and technical debt.

• Use suitable assessment frameworks, including DORA, SPACE, flow metrics and team health checks, to identify systemic constraints.

• Maintain an evidence-based improvement backlog and track agreed actions through measurable results.

• Coach squads toward stronger ownership, accountability and self-management.

• Help evolve practical and lightweight ways of working across the technology organization.

Accountability Boundaries

The Senior Agile Delivery Manager owns integrated delivery coordination, forecasting, risks, dependencies, delivery transparency and improvement of the delivery system. The role facilitates decisions and escalates unresolved conflicts but does not make product-priority or technical-design decisions.

Required Experience

• At least nine years of overall experience in software engineering and technology delivery environments.

• At least five years of experience in Agile delivery, Scrum Master, delivery management or comparable roles.

• Prior hands-on experience as an executing member of a software engineering squad, such as (Software Engineer, Automation Quality Engineer, Comparable technical delivery role)

• Proven experience coordinating delivery across multiple software squads.

• Strong understanding of software design, development, testing, CI/CD, DevOps and production release practices.

• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps Boards, backlogs, queries, dashboards and reporting.

• Practical experience managing delivery risks, dependencies, forecasts and recovery plans.

• Strong facilitation, coaching, analytical and stakeholder-management capabilities.

• Ability to influence teams and leadership without relying on direct authority.

• Strong written and spoken English.

• A relevant degree and professional certifications in Agile, Scrum or delivery management is a must; e.g. (Professional Scrum Master certification (PSM) or equivalent) besides demonstrated delivery experience.
