About Take Command
Take Command is a start-up on a mission to improve the healthcare system, starting with health insurance. Pragmatically speaking, we help employers reimburse employees for individual insurance instead of offering a traditional one-size-fits-all group plan. We believe this model can empower employees (when they have the right support) to be savvy healthcare consumers and have a transformative impact on the entire healthcare system.
Let’s be honest—health insurance is usually a confusing, frustrating, and even emotional experience for people. We want to fix that with a new model, great technology, and a superior user experience. We have made a great start, but we need your help to fully realize our long-term vision.
About the Role
We are seeking a talented leader in Product Design to lead highly ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives and turn complex customer and business needs into clear, thoughtful product experiences. Partnering closely with product, engineering, research, and other stakeholders, you will help shape product strategy and deliver intuitive, accessible, and user-friendly solutions from discovery through launch. This role requires a deep understanding of user-centered design, strong attention to detail, and the ability to balance user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints while raising the quality and effectiveness of design across the organization.
What you’ll do
• Lead end-to-end design, including discovery, research, interaction design, prototyping, validation, and implementation
• Translate customer insights, business goals, and technical constraints into intuitive product experiences
• Partner with product and engineering to define problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and deliver measurable outcomes
• Contribute to and evolve our design system and product-quality standards
• Clearly communicate design rationale and build alignment across teams
• Shape broader product strategy, lead work spanning multiple teams, mentoring through influence and example
What we’re looking for
• A strong portfolio demonstrating systems thinking, product judgment, interaction design, and shipped outcomes
• Experience independently leading complex product initiatives
• Strong collaboration, facilitation, and communication skills
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, incorporate feedback, and balance customer, business, and technical considerations
• Commitment to accessible, inclusive, and high-quality experiences
• Experience using AI-assisted workflows to accelerate research synthesis, exploration, prototyping, UX writing, or design-to-code delivery
Nice to have
• Using tools such as Claude Artifacts, Claude Code, Cursor, v0, or similar
• Technical fluency with modern front-end development, including React, HTML/CSS, component libraries, design tokens, and design systems in code
• Ability to build working prototypes, collaborate directly in a codebase, or meaningfully review front-end implementation
Compensation
• $XXX,XXX + XX% bonus (IC3/4)
• We believe employees should be compensated fairly based on the market in which they live and work. Using geographic market data helps us maintain competitive pay, support internal equity, and ensure a consistent approach to compensation decisions across the company.
