Job Description:

The Sr. Network Engineer II is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting complex, mission-critical network infrastructures that bridge traditional data centers and modern multi-cloud environments. Demanding elite technical depth in architecture, security, and automation, this role ensures the highest levels of reliability and performance—with an active CCIE (or equivalent expert-level credential) strongly preferred as a testament to advanced design and troubleshooting mastery.

  • Design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance network architectures across on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Lead network infrastructure projects, including data center, WAN, LAN, and cloud connectivity initiatives.
  • Implement and manage advanced routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-WAN).
  • Oversee network security implementations, including firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, and zero-trust principles.
  • Develop and manage automation workflows for network provisioning, configuration, and monitoring using infrastructure-as-code and modern scripting methodologies.
  • Optimize network performance, capacity planning, and reliability.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for critical network incidents in high-availability environments.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Security, Systems, Cloud, DevOps) to ensure seamless integration and operational excellence.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to the network architecture.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers.
  • Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.

Experience Required:

  • 8+ years of hands-on network engineering experience in large-scale enterprise or service provider environments.
  • 3 +years of operational experience in a Cloud, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) role.
  • Strong, hands-on experience operating within major public enterprise cloud platforms.
  • Strong experience with network security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs).
  • Experience and proficiency in network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using modern scripting languages and configuration management tools.
  • Experience with Cisco ACI, DNA Center, or similar SDN technologies.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) preferred.

License/Certification Required:

  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification.

Routing & Switching / Enterprise Infrastructure required. Security preferred.

  • Additional certifications (CCDE, CISSP, AWS Advanced Networking) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of: Expert-level knowledge of routing and switching protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and WAN technologies (MPLS, SD-WAN). High-availability and redundancy design, network security best practices, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles. Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, ThousandEyes. Deep understanding of high-availability and redundancy designs. Network virtualization (VXLAN, EVPN) preferred.
  • Skill in: Exceptional problem-solving and analytical thinking; clear and concise communication and documentation.
  • Ability to: Lead complex technical projects, influence architectural decisions, and perform effectively in high-pressure, mission-critical situations.
