Description

Are you interested in taking ground-breaking concepts and turning them into ambitious new capabilities that solve the most vexing integrated defense problems of our nation?

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL!

We are seeking systems engineers to help conceive, define and evaluate system of system requirements for operational applications. We need people who can apply a wide range of modeling, simulation and analytical tools to advance our understanding of sensor, network, combat system and missile performance. We are particularly interested in engineers familiar with digital engineering tools and practices to quickly evolve agile new concepts for rapid deployment to our customers.

As a Systems Analyst you will...

  • Lead the full lifecycle of analysis studies, including problem formulation, simulation setup, execution, and rigorous results analysis.
  • Utilize constructive modeling and simulation techniques to build and refine complex mission models, leveraging tools such as AFSIM and other mission-critical simulation software.
  • Perform deep-dive analysis on defensive kill chains to support mission effectiveness and decision-making.
  • Translate complex simulation data into actionable insights through high-quality technical reports and professional presentations to stakeholders and sponsors.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a BS degree in systems engineering, computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, engineering, physics, mathematics, or other related technical degree.
  • Have at least 3 years of professional experience performing systems analysis focused on modeling and simulation (M&S).
  • Have experience applying constructive modeling and simulation (M&S) techniques.
  • Possess strong speaking and writing skills.
  • Are able to organize tasks, collaborate with others and coordinate your work across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Are willing and able to travel periodically, including short duration visits to sponsor offices and supporting contractor sites.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • An MS in an engineering or a closely related field.
  • Have demonstrated experience executing an analysis study process including problem formulation, analysis setup, simulation runs and results analysis.
  • Have demonstrated experience in presenting the results of an analysis study to interested parties and justifying the results.
  • Have experience in Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) and related mission simulation tools.
  • Have experience with running on computing grids and using its supporting infrastructure.
  • Have experience with DoW air and missile defense kill chains and analysis.
