Job Summary

Seeking a skilled and seasoned Senior BSP Engineer to drive the development of system software in our product lineup of Android based devices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of board bring-up, development of board support package, hardware integration and be able to work collaboratively across teams to deliver highly reliable solutions.

This role is responsible for providing guidance for the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex software systems that meet specific business needs or technical requirements. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system administrators, and project managers, to create solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure and deliver value to end-users. The role formulates and defines system scope and objectives for assigned projects combining knowledge and disciplines of all aspects of a computing system.

Role & Responsibilities

• Oversees the installation, configuration, testing and maintenance of operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Monitors and tests application performance for potential bottlenecks, identifies possible solutions, and works with developers to implement those fixes.
• Optimizes software systems for performance, scalability, and resource efficiency to ensure optimal user experience.
• Gathers all the system engineering requirements for the infrastructure components by working with engineering groups and other stakeholders.
• Leads multiple project teams of other software systems engineers responsible for all stages of design and development for complex products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration.
• Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on software systems design and development.
• Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
• Provides domain-specific expertise and overall software systems leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
• Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the software systems design organization.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.

Education & Experience Recommended

• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 7-10 years of work experience, preferably in systems engineering, computer programming language, or a related field.

Preferred Certifications

• Certified Software Systems Engineer (CSSE)
• Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)

Knowledge & Skills •   Strong analytical & programming skills in C/C++/Java/Kotlin. •    Expert in Linux kernel concepts and Board bring-up including Android Boot sequence, System-init, Linux Kernel-init. •    Strong understanding of operating system concepts with hands on experience on multithreaded & multicore environment. •    Deep understanding (hands-on development) of Linux Kernel & device drivers (I2C/USB/SPI/eMMC/Display/Touch/MIPI/PCIe/GPU/GPIO). •    Good understanding of Android architecture, MM framework, buffer management, Android HAL layer adaptation is a plus. •    Deep knowledge of SCM tools (git hub, perforce, clearcase etc.) & developer tools ( Android studio, Visual studio etc.). •    Strong debugging skills (crash/memory/panic etc.). •    Hands on experience with debugging/profiling tools on Android/embedded platforms (Lauterbach/gdb/perfetto/system trace). •    Experience on ARM based SoC’s from Qualcomm/Exynis/MediaTek a plus. •    Responsible team player with good communication skills. •    Ability to technically drive a team of engineers and maintain effective communication. •    Quick learner of new concepts with a creative mindset. •    Ability to decipher requirements into actionable tasks with a clear outcome. •    Knowledge of on-device AI execution and acceleration a plus (TF/Pytorch aware).

•   Knowledge of CPU scheduling, Memory  & Power management aspects of Android
•   Knowledge of Android’s security architecture (Keystore, SELinux policies, sandboxing, and permission models, TZ/TEE), 
•   Exposure to Profiling tools, HAL layer familiarity, Bottoms up Feature enablement, SoC feature familiarity
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of software systems design and development innovation and excellence.
