Full description

Verisk is a global data, analytics, and technology leader. Through Verisk Underwriting Solutions, we provide technology and data solutions that support the insurance industry and the organizations that operate within it.

We’re looking for an experienced Database Administrator to join our global team and help manage a large, diverse, and rapidly evolving NoSQL environment.

This is not a traditional database administration role. You’ll work at significant scale, supporting thousands of NoSQL systems and hundreds of applications in a 24/7 environment. You’ll have ownership across the full database lifecycle, while helping us improve how we automate, optimize, secure, and operate critical infrastructure in AWS.

You’ll work with technologies including Cassandra, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Solr, Redis, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, ClickHouse, Terraform, and Python, with opportunities to explore how AI can further improve automation and incident response.

For someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and wants their work to have a long-term impact, this is an opportunity to combine deep database expertise with cloud engineering, automation, and technical leadership.

Why join Verisk?

You’ll be joining a global technology environment where database reliability, performance, and scalability have a meaningful impact on the applications and services our business depends on.

At Verisk Underwriting Solutions, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your expertise beyond day-to-day database administration. You’ll help modernize infrastructure, automate complex processes, influence technical decisions, and improve how critical NoSQL environments operate at scale.

You’ll also gain exposure across cloud engineering, infrastructure as code, automation, and emerging AI technologies while working alongside experienced engineering teams in a stable global organization.

If you’re looking for a role where you can take real ownership, work on technically challenging infrastructure, and make improvements that have a lasting impact, we’d like to hear from you.

  • Take ownership of NoSQL cluster administration, including planning, installation, upgrades, security patching, data retention, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.
  • Build and improve automation using Terraform, Python, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Explore practical uses of AI technologies to improve productivity, accelerate operational processes, and strengthen incident response.
  • Contribute to the architecture of highly available, scalable infrastructure supporting customer-facing services.
  • Partner closely with application development and DevOps teams to test, troubleshoot, and optimize new and existing database-driven applications.
  • Monitor production, UAT, and other database environments, proactively identifying and resolving issues affecting performance, availability, and scalability.
  • Support infrastructure and cost optimization initiatives across the NoSQL environment.
  • Provide technical guidance on NoSQL database technologies and infrastructure, sharing expertise with other DBAs across the global team.
  • Participate in on-call and priority support outside standard business hours as part of the team’s responsibility for critical 24/7 systems.

  • Experience working within cloud environments, ideally AWS.
  • Experience supporting critical enterprise database applications within a 24/7 operating environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through complex technical issues independently.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with database, development, DevOps, and other engineering teams.
