What we do at Weir

We are a global leader in mining technology for a sustainable future. We help our customers extract the resources the world needs more efficiently and more sustainably. Our planet’s future depends on the transition to renewable energy, and that transition can only happen with the metals and minerals our customers deliver. So, we work side by side with mines across the globe to move less rock, use less energy, use water wisely, and create less waste. Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.

Make your impact

You’ll play a key role in solving real-world challenges. You’ll apply your skills to deliver results that matter whether that’s through engineering, planning or customer support. You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.

What you’ll do

  • Performance Management & Consolidation: Own and coordinate the FP&A contribution to month-end close, consolidating financial results, flash reporting, and performance analysis. Partner with Finance & Accounting, Commercial Finance, and Operations Finance to ensure accuracy and consistency of actuals. Deliver clear executive-level commentary explaining performance drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning: Lead coordination and consolidation of budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans aligned with group standards. Develop and maintain driver-based models linking operational activity to financial outcomes. Challenge assumptions to ensure robust, transparent, and strategically aligned plans.
  • Reporting & Insights: Provide decision-oriented insights by translating financial results, forecasts, and trends into actionable narratives. Review and improve management, operational, and executive reports for relevance and alignment with key value drivers. Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise, and automate reporting, enhancing quality and timeliness. Embed insight-led reporting into business rhythms and decision forums.
  • Performance Analysis & Decision Support: Deliver insightful variance analysis across revenue, margin, cost, headcount, and cash drivers. Support strategic initiatives, investment cases, and transformation programs through scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis. Act as a trusted FP&A partner to senior business and finance stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement & Automation: Apply LEAN principles to streamline FP&A processes, eliminating non-value-adding activities. Identify and implement automation opportunities across planning, consolidation, and reporting. Continuously improve quality, timeliness, and usability of FP&A outputs.
  • Systems, Data & Governance: Serve as a key FP&A SME for planning and reporting tools including SAP S/4HANA and associated FP&A solutions. Ensure strong data governance, reconciliation, and control across planning and reporting cycles. Maintain clear documentation of models, assumptions, and methodologies.
  • Cross-Regional Support: Provide immediate FP&A support across China and Malaysia, standardising and streamlining reporting, documenting processes, and preparing for transition to WBS. Support Australia and wider APAC finance needs as required.
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal travel expected; primary collaboration is virtual and onsite within Sydney office at least 2 days per week to support local team interaction.
  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.
