Job Description:

Your Impact

The Data Engineer is responsible for delivering and evolving the data engineering capability within the Corporate Analytics team. The role combines hands-on technical leadership, ownership of delivery on the current Azure data platform, and contribution to the organisation’s transition to a modern lakehouse-based data stack. 

You will also play a key role in working with the wider data engineering community across hub and spoke to define common standards, patterns, and ways of working within a product centric operating model. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the design and delivery of data pipelines and data products for corporate analytics 
  • Support and optimise the current Azure stack (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL) 
  • Contribute to migration towards a modern data stack (Apache Iceberg, Dagster, PostgreSQL, Trino, Argo CD) 
  • Design and maintain high-quality data models for analytics and reporting 
  • Apply best practice in data warehousing and lakehouse architectures 
  • Work with data engineers across hub and spokes to: 
  • Develop shared engineering standards 
  • Define common patterns and tooling 
  • Improve consistency and quality across the data estate 
  • Ensure data pipelines are reliable, secure, and well-governed 
  • Apply data-as-a-product principles including ownership, usability, trust and lifecycle management. 

What you'll bring

  • Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL 
  • Proven data engineering experience in analytics-focused platforms 
  • Solid understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and lakehouse concepts 
  • Experience with Azure data services, particularly Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL 
  • Appreciation or knowledge of modern, open data stacks (Iceberg, Dagster, Postgres, GitOps/Argo CD)
