Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Financial Accounting and Reporting, this position is accountable for compiling, consolidating, analyzing, interpreting and presenting statutory and management financial results for the Canadian operations and Global results to Senior Management. In addition, the role includes supporting the controllership function at Markham (Head office), which includes business partnering with selected functional departments to review fixed and variable spending, recording journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and compiling its financial results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consolidation of the monthly and annual statutory financial results of all Sofina divisions and Europe operations, including monthly Executive presentation materials.
- Preparation and consolidation of Treasury reporting requirements, which include calculating the Company’s bank covenants, compliance certificate, updating the bank model, and other ad hoc support documents (Interest rate reasonability).
- Controllership responsibilities include the monthly close and reporting for the Markham Head Office location and functional management report distribution. This includes updating the standard reporting package and review and explaining variances.
- Supporting the Director, Financial Accounting and Reporting, with drafting the consolidated financial statements, along with Notes to Financial Statements
- Work with business divisions and acquisition companies to align and integrate all financial reporting, including master data / chart of accounts.
- Schedules and analysis for income tax returns and audits.
- Update PowerBI reports weekly or monthly (Functional department expense analysis, Foreign Exchange)
- Update of weekly distribution reports, including working capital, AR financing, insurance/supplier claims tracker.
- Consolidation of the Capital expenditure reports for the Engineering team which includes actual results and forecasted results from Sofina’s plant operations and the Engineering department.
- Consolidation of the utilities reporting for the Canada operations
- Key stakeholder for preparing and submitting on standard Statistics Canada Reports.
- Managing the Stewardship reporting process and working with the Corporate Engineering team
- Supporting the Director, Financial Accounting and Reporting, with the external audit
- Review and approval of accounts payable invoices for Head office.
- Ad hoc special projects and investigations.
Requirements:
- Relevant post-secondary education in Finance
- Must have a completed CPA or CMA, CGA, CA designation
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a financial analyst role.
- Experience with an ERP system and strong computer skills including advanced excel skills and spreadsheet modelling, and PowerBI experience.
- Experience with Accounting Standard for Private Entities, and International Financial Reporting Standards
Job Posting Range:
- Hiring Range: CAD $64,393 - $92,082
- Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus up to 8% of base salary subject to the plan terms and conditions.
- Please note that the expected hiring range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sofina. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, skillset of the candidate and internal equity.
