Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Software Engineer to join our growing data infrastructure team. In this role, you will help build, maintain, and scale the pipelines that power our data-driven decision-making. You will work closely with senior engineers to develop robust ETL processes, manage containerized services in Kubernetes, and build scalable data streaming solutions. This is an ideal role for an engineer who is passionate about cloud-native technologies and big data ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain efficient ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to ingest and process large datasets.
- Infrastructure Management: Assist in the deployment and monitoring of containerized applications using Kubernetes (K8s) within a cloud environment.
- Data Streaming: Support the development and maintenance of real-time data streaming architectures using Apache Kafka.
- Big Data Processing: Utilize Apache Spark to perform large-scale data transformations and analysis.
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested Python code. Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation.
- Collaboration: Work in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize system performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Programming: Strong proficiency in Python. Familiarity with libraries such as Pandas, kafka, numpy, requests etc.
- Cloud Experience: Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Containerization: Basic understanding of Kubernetes and Docker (e.g., writing Dockerfiles, understanding Pods/Deployments).
- Big Data Ecosystem: Familiarity with Apache Spark for data processing and Apache Kafka for message queuing/streaming.
- Data Engineering: Understanding of ETL design patterns, data modeling, and working with SQL/NoSQL databases.
- Version Control: Proficiency with Git for collaborative software development.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI).
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
- Exposure to cloud-managed data services (e.g., AWS EMR, Google Dataproc, or Confluent Kafka).
