Android Developer
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Android Developer to take ownership of the infrastructure and software stack used to control and manage Android devices.
The existing system is primarily built with Python and Linux, with direct interaction with Android devices through ADB and other Android interfaces.
You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the existing system, as well as designing and building new functionality as the platform evolves.
You will work as part of a small engineering team and are expected to understand the system end-to-end — from Android devices and device control, through backend services and databases, to Linux infrastructure and CI/CD.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working across different parts of a system, and taking ownership of features and infrastructure from design through deployment.
Core Requirements
- 2–4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong Python development skills.
- Strong Linux knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with Android devices and automation.
- Practical experience with ADB (Android Debug Bridge).
- Good understanding of Java and the Android ecosystem.
- Experience working with databases and backend services/APIs.
- Familiarity with Git, testing, CI/CD, and deployment processes.
- Ability to understand and work across an existing codebase and infrastructure.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, including identifying issues across multiple layers of a system.
- Ability to design and implement new components, not only maintain existing code.
- Strong willingness and ability to learn unfamiliar technologies and understand the bigger picture of a system.
Advantages
- Experience managing or automating multiple Android devices.
- Knowledge of Android internals and advanced ADB usage.
- Experience with distributed systems, concurrency, or large-scale automation.
- Experience with Docker, cloud infrastructure, or CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of networking, monitoring, logging, and system reliability.
- Experience with production databases.
- Experience designing systems for scalability, fault tolerance, and failure recovery.
- Strong understanding of how backend, infrastructure, networking, and device-level components work together.
