Overview:
The Senior Systems Analyst is responsible for analysing business processes, operational models, systems and data to support the design and delivery of technology-enabled change. The role acts as a bridge between business stakeholders, technical teams and programme delivery functions to ensure requirements are clearly defined, solution impacts are understood, and change is successfully implemented. This role combines business analysis, systems analysis, process improvement, requirements management, data analysis and stakeholder engagement within complex transformation programmes.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the analysis of business processes, systems and operating models to identify opportunities for improvement and support strategic change initiatives.
- Elicit, document and validate business, functional and non-functional requirements from a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements, user stories, process maps and solution specifications.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, technical teams, architects and delivery partners to design effective system and process solutions.
- Conduct impact, gap and dependency analyses to assess the implications of business and technology changes.
- Analyse data flows, system integrations and information requirements to support solution design and implementation.
- Support project and programme delivery activities, including backlog management, prioritisation, testing and change readiness.
- Provide leadership and mentoring within the analysis function, promoting best practice, governance and continuous improvement.
Experience Required:
- Significant experience as a Systems Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, or Business Systems Analyst within complex technology and transformation programmes.
- Proven experience gathering, analysing and documenting business, functional and non-functional requirements, translating business needs into system-level specifications and user stories.
- Strong experience mapping and improving business processes, including defining current-state (As-Is) and future-state (To-Be) operating models.
- Demonstrable experience leading stakeholder workshops, requirements elicitation sessions and cross-functional collaboration with business and technical teams.
- Experience conducting impact assessments, risk analysis, dependency management and requirements traceability across multiple workstreams and delivery phases.
- Strong data analysis experience, including data modelling, data migration support, data quality assessment and the analysis of system integrations and information flows.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working with biometric, forensic, or DNA-related systems, data, or operational processes.
- Knowledge of regulated, high-assurance, or public sector environments where security, auditability and data governance are critical.
- Experience supporting large-scale data transformation, matching, search, or identity-based technology solutions.
