WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving the organization’s business systems, with a primary focus on the ERP environment and related business applications. This role serves as a key connection between business operations and technology, helping ensure systems effectively support business processes, provide accurate and useful information, and continue to evolve with organizational needs.

The position works closely with business stakeholders, software vendors, and other technical and quality resources to troubleshoot issues, develop solutions, improve processes, and support system changes and enhancements. The role also supports related applications, integrations, reporting and business intelligence tools, and other systems as the organization’s technology environment develops.

WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE

While the ways that you fulfill these responsibilities will likely evolve, your core responsibilities are:

User Support & Issue Resolution

  • Serve as a primary business systems resource for the organization’s ERP and related applications, providing functional and technical support to users across the organization.
  • Troubleshoot application errors and system issues, investigate root causes, implement solutions, and manage support cases with software vendors when escalation is required.

System Configuration & Administration

  • Configure and customize ERP and related applications, including workflows, forms, fields, business rules, and other system functionality.
  • Perform routine application administration, including user setup, roles, permissions, and related system configuration.
  • Support applications that integrate with or complement the ERP environment, including document management, reporting and business intelligence platforms, integrations, and other business applications.

Reporting & Data Analysis

  • Develop, maintain, and improve ERP reports, dashboards, queries, and other reporting solutions to provide accurate and useful business information.
  • Analyze data and system processes to identify trends, discrepancies, reporting needs, and opportunities for automation and process improvement.

Process & System Improvement

  • Partner with business departments to understand requirements, improve processes, and implement system, workflow, automation, and efficiency improvements.
  • Monitor system performance, recurring issues, data quality, and overall system effectiveness; identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and user experience.
  • Stay current on system capabilities and available technologies and recommend solutions that improve business processes, system utilization, and operational efficiency.

Implementation, Testing & Documentation

  • Participate in the evaluation, implementation, testing, and ongoing support of new systems, ERP functionality, integrations, upgrades, and other technology initiatives.
  • Perform testing and user acceptance activities for system changes, enhancements, reports, workflows, integrations, and upgrades; work with Quality and Systems Validation when required.
  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, customizations, reports, integrations, processes, testing, and system changes; provide user training and guidance as needed.

Minimum Qualifications For The Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Operations, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting, configuring, or developing ERP/business applications.
  • Hands-on experience working with an ERP system in a business environment.
  • Experience developing or maintaining reports, queries, dashboards, or other reporting solutions.
  • Experience troubleshooting application issues and working with users to resolve problems.
  • Experience with application configuration, workflows, system setup, or other forms of business application administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Epicor ERP or a comparable ERP platform, including reporting, configuration, customization, workflows, or system administration.
  • Experience with relational databases, reporting tools, and/or business intelligence platforms.
  • Experience with ERP integrations, document management systems, workflows, automation, or other connected business applications.
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, modules, system enhancements, testing, validation, or change management.
  • Experience in manufacturing, preferably in a regulated environment.

Physical, Sensory, Cognitive & Neurological Demands:

  • Requires the ability to safely perform the physical movements necessary to carry out the essential functions of the role, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movements throughout the workday.
  • Regularly sits for extended periods while working at a computer, with frequent keyboard and mouse use and prolonged screen time.
  • Requires close vision to read computer screens, reports, and detailed data, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Requires the ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and in virtual meetings, including hearing and speaking to exchange information with users, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Requires sustained concentration, analytical reasoning, and attention to detail while managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and interruptions.
  • Occasionally moves throughout the facility, including office and production areas, to support users, and may occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

  • Accuracy, timeliness, and adoption of reports, dashboards, and queries delivered to business stakeholders.
  • System changes, enhancements, and upgrades completed on schedule, with required testing and validation documentation in place.
  • Completeness and currency of system documentation, including configurations, customizations, integrations, and change records.
  • Number and impact of process, workflow, and automation improvements implemented in partnership with business departments.
  • Internal stakeholder satisfaction with system support, training, and responsiveness.
