As a (Senior) Software Engineer you will be is responsible for building and supporting high-performance microservices and APIs that provide secure access to enterprise operational data. Working within a cloud-native architecture, you will develop containerised services using Spring Boot and Python, enabling real-time integration between business systems and the ODS platform.
You will play a key role in implementing modern API-led and event-driven integration patterns, helping to establish reusable services and standards that support enterprise-wide data consumption.
What will you be doing?
- Designing, developing and maintaining RESTful APIs, microservices and integration services.
- Building containerised applications using Spring Boot and/or Python.
- Developing secure, scalable and resilient API solutions supporting (ODS) Operational Data Store access and integration.
- Building event-driven services and integrations using Kafka/MSK.
- Creating reusable frameworks, service templates and integration patterns.
- Integrating with upstream and downstream systems using synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns.
- Supporting API lifecycle management, including versioning, contracts and service reliability.
- Deploying and operating services on AWS ECS while supporting CI/CD and infrastructure automation.
- Implementing monitoring, logging, observability and performance best practices.
- Collaborating with Architects, Data Engineers and Product Teams while contributing to technical design, documentation and Agile delivery.
What we’re looking for?
Essential
- Strong software engineering experience (Senior- over 4 years, Regular – over 3 years).
- Proven expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures and Kafka.
- Experience working with AWS services including: ECS, S3, Aurora/PostgreSQL and API integration services
- Understanding of containerisation technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Strong understanding of API security and authentication patterns.
- Experience with API design standards such as OpenAPI/Swagger.
Desirable
- Experience with Kong API Gateway or AWS API Gateway.
- Experience with Kafka/MSK.
- Experience with Python development.
- Knowledge of CDC and event sourcing patterns.
- Experience in Insurance or Financial Services.
- Understanding of enterprise canonical data models.
