PROJECT DESCRIPTION: ITS serves all DSS program areas to fulfill their IT needs. To meet the business needs and ITS' workload, ITS is seeking qualified candidates in the areas of Database design, architecture, and development, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of various systems that ITS supports across DSS program areas.
Tasks & Duties
- Create and maintain Oracle Databases. Report and make recommendations on database improvements. Ensure current database security standards are maintained
- Responsible for SQL Database development and support.
- Creates, maintains, and updates SQL Server Infrastructure and Standards DBA documentation.
- Works with vendors to architect, design and configure large, complex databases with replication and high availability on the most current MSSQL versions.
- Develops and maintains application, data, and execution architectures.
- Provides input into overall development/implementation plan and documents database builds and changes, performs SQL designs, table designs, and stored procedures work.
- Manages large tables, maintains schemas, and develops queries and utilities to assist users.
- Installs upgrades and patches to existing databases.
- Creates databases, tuning, cloning, copying, and data refreshes.
- Performs system analysis and identifies solutions to technical problems
- Identifies bottlenecks and performs database tuning.
- Supports the activities required to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Create and maintains all databases required for development, QA, Staging and production usage
- Install new versions of the Oracle RDBMS and its tools and any other tools that access the Oracle database.
- Performs the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases and carry out tuning of database instances.
- Work closely with system administration staff because Computers often have applications or tools on them in addition to the Oracle /SQL Databases
- Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments
- Extensive experience with database technologies (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL Oracle, MongoDB)
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) a plus
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered
- A minimum of 6 years of experience with the following skill sets:
- SQL 2016/2019/2022 database management and related products
- Microsoft including PowerShell, Windows 2016/2019/2022 Server operating systems.
- Advanced SQL queries and reading query execution plan, developing and performance tuning complex, SSRS and SSIS-2016/2019/2022 packages
- SQL 2016/2019/2022 Always on High Availability configuration, support, and troubleshooting.
- Performance tuning, Performance monitoring, Replication, Log shipping, Database Mirroring, Database capacity planning, Users and Role creation and monitoring.
