Responsibilities

Related Companies is seeking a Network Engineer I to join the Hudson Yards Infrastructure & Operations team. This is a highly technical, hands-on role responsible for supporting the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and ongoing operation of the campus-wide Cisco enterprise network, including wired and wireless infrastructure, converged networks, and connected building systems.

Reporting to the Director of Information Technology at Hudson Yards, this role will work closely with senior network engineers, internal technology teams, building operations, external vendors, and system integrators to support the diverse technology platforms operating across the campus.

The Hudson Yards network supports a wide range of critical building systems and services, including Wi-Fi, HVAC and energy management, access control, elevators, life safety systems, turnstiles, and voice services. The Network Engineer I will help ensure these environments remain reliable, secure, and properly integrated while supporting day-to-day operations, troubleshooting efforts, infrastructure upgrades, and future technology initiatives across the campus.

The successful candidate will be proactive, technically curious, highly motivated to learn, and comfortable working in a complex, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, maintain, and support Cisco enterprise network equipment, including switches, routers, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Monitor network availability, performance, and capacity; troubleshoot and resolve connectivity, routing, switching, and wireless issues.
  • Support Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 infrastructure, including fiber, copper, VLANs, IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, and spanning tree.
  • Support enterprise wireless (Cisco/Meraki) and network connectivity for building systems — HVAC, access control, cameras, elevators, life safety, and IoT devices.
  • Assist with firewall configurations, ACLs, network segmentation, and VPN connectivity in coordination with Cybersecurity.
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation, device inventories, and configuration records.
  • Support network upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects alongside senior engineers, vendors, and system integrators.
  • Communicate incidents, planned maintenance, and technical issues clearly to internal and external stakeholders.

Compensation:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.

Anticipated base salary range: $90,000 - $100,000 / year

Actual base salary within the anticipated range will be determined by several components including, but not limited to, the individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and market factors.

Qualifications

Key Skills & Background Required

  • 1–3 years of experience working in a Cisco environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of switching, routing, and wireless technologies (particularly Cisco), including 9K, 7K, and 5K network fabrics.
  • Working knowledge of networking technologies and methodologies (MPLS, VRF, VPC, etc.).
  • Knowledge of VoIP/QoS design and deployment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Layer 1 infrastructure (fiber, copper, RF).
  • Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 network infrastructure, best practices, and principles.
  • Knowledge of network cybersecurity best practices for firewalls, firewall configurations, and ACLs.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with team members and business stakeholders across diverse roles and experience levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong diagramming and documentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Motivated to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNA and/or CompTIA Network+ certification, or similar.
  • Experience with Cisco and Meraki technologies.
  • Working knowledge of IoT architecture, security, management, and device integrations.
  • Experience with EIGRP, HSRP, BGP, VPC, VRF, VLAN tagging, Spanning Tree, WAN, firewalls, and VPN.
  • Analytics and/or data science skills.
  • Experience with SolarWinds.
  • Knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls a plus.

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or information Systems Management from an accredited university, or equivalent experience.
  • Comfortable working in a matrixed environment, with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • A creative mind, excellent interpersonal skills, and a sense of humor are a must for this position.
