Position Summary

Associate VP, Network Engineering

Our Enterprise Networks practice, part of Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure within AI & Engineering, helps clients architect, modernize, and operate the network foundation that underpins their digital and AI-driven ambitions. We deliver network assessments, strategy, and implementations that improve agility, resilience, and security while reducing operational cost through automation. Our practitioners work across enterprise campus, data center, and cloud-interconnected networks, guiding clients through transformative initiatives — including the network demands introduced by AI/ML workloads — using leading vendor solutions and Deloitte-developed accelerators.

Recruiting for this role ends on 10/30/26

Work you'll do

As part of our team, you will engage with practitioners and professionals across multiple disciplines, both within Deloitte and our clients' organizations. You'll have exposure to a broad range of technologies and the opportunity to deepen your expertise while expanding into adjacent domains. Our practitioners lead and support technical teams to assess, design, and deploy enterprise network solutions across campus, data center, and hybrid cloud environments, owning delivery outcomes while managing client and stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience with enterprise networking technologies, including:
  • Layer 2 protocols (ARP, 802.1Q, Spanning Tree)
  • Layer 3 protocols (BGP, OSPF)
  • Layer 4–7 technologies (TCP, load balancers, firewalls, DNS)
  • 8+ years of relevant consulting or industry experience in large-scale, enterprise-class consulting or systems integration engagements
  • Experience owning full engagement delivery, including financial performance (budget, margin, utilization) and executive-level client relationships
  • Experience leading pursuits and business development — proposal development, SOW/scoping, solutioning, and staffing strategy
  • Experience managing and mentoring Managers and project teams, including performance management and career development
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred

  • Proven track record leading engagements across all project phases: plan, build, test, and transition
  • Network certifications (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, or equivalent)
  • Deep hands-on background in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting, with the credibility to guide technical teams and validate their work
  • Proven experience presenting network strategy and topology decisions to executive and C-suite audiences
  • Strong understanding of network security architecture (next-generation firewalls, IPS) and its role in enterprise segmentation strategy
  • Network security certifications a plus (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco, VMware)
  • Expert-level understanding of spine-leaf architectures, network overlays (VXLAN), and data center interconnect (DCI)/multi-site fabric strategy
  • Strong grasp of IPv6 strategy and enterprise migration planning
  • Experience leveraging enterprise network monitoring and observability platforms to build client-facing business cases
  • Deep understanding of public cloud connectivity strategy and hybrid network architecture
  • Cloud certifications a plus (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong point of view on SDN, network orchestration, and SD-WAN strategy and vendor selection
  • Working knowledge of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and SASE strategy
  • Experience directing the development of POC/test environments to validate solution recommendations
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure and application transport protocols (DNS, DHCP, IPAM, SSL/TLS, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, LDAP, Microsoft AD)
  • Familiarity with wireless architecture strategy for enterprise clients
  • Experience directing root-cause analysis and performance troubleshooting efforts using tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, and iperf
  • Experience championing network automation strategy, including CI/CD (Git, Jenkins) and configuration management (Ansible, Terraform) adoption across client operations teams
  • Strong understanding of programmatic network management (APIs, YANG, JSON) and its role in modernizing client operations
  • Proven experience advising senior client leadership on technology strategy, target-state architecture, and organizational/process change
  • Extensive experience leading legacy-to-modern network migrations in phased approaches that minimize downtime and risk
  • Familiarity with AI networking trends is a plus — e.g., awareness of AI/ML data center fabric considerations and AI-driven network automation/observability, sufficient to advise clients directionally and collaborate with AI & Engineering specialists as needed
  • Proven ability to build and deliver executive-level collaterals, workshops, and strategic narratives
  • Exceptional articulation, executive presence, and interpersonal skills
  • Extensive experience leading transformation initiatives for large, complex organizations
