We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join a high-performing team responsible for delivering reliable, scalable, and business-critical data solutions within Personal and Private Banking. You will work across complex data ecosystems, supporting the design, development, enhancement, and optimisation of enterprise data platforms and data warehouse solutions. Collaborating with business stakeholders, analysts, architects, and technology teams, you will help deliver trusted, high-quality data that supports both operational and strategic objectives.
The successful candidate will contribute to building and maintaining robust data pipelines, improving data quality and governance standards, and driving continuous improvement across the data landscape. Job Purpose
To design, develop, support, and optimise data solutions that enable trusted, accessible, and high-quality information across the business. The role is responsible for managing data integration processes, maintaining data warehouse environments, ensuring data governance compliance, and supporting business intelligence and analytics initiatives through the delivery of reliable and scalable data assets.
Job Responsibilities

- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data-related incidents.
- Translate business requirements into scalable and sustainable data solutions.
- Support business stakeholders with trusted and accessible data to enable decision-making.
- Identify and implement automation and innovation opportunities.
- Participate in Agile delivery activities including planning, development, testing, deployment, and support.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, technology partners, and vendors.
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Remain current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and leading data engineering practices.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification
Degree in any of the following:
- Mathematical/Statistics
- Information Technology
- Computer Science
- Data Science
- Engineering
- Or similiar
Preferred Certifications
- DAMA Certification
- Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate
- Data Warehousing or Database Certification
- Relevant Cloud, Data Engineering, or ETL Certification
Minimum Experience Level
- 5+ years' experience within Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Data Management, Business Intelligence, or related data-focused environments.
- Proven experience designing, developing and supporting enterprise-scale data solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL development, query optimisation, data modelling, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Experience translating business requirements into scalable data solutions and actionable insights.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets across multiple source systems.
- Experience implementing and maintaining data governance, metadata, lineage, and quality standards.
- Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern data engineering frameworks.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Experience within a banking, financial services, or other regulated environment will be advantageous
