EECU is seeking a Systems Database Administrator II to join our growing organization. The Systems Database Administrator (SysDBA) II represents the journeyman level for this position series. The SysDBA II works with minimal technical supervision on all aspects of EECU server, storage and database systems. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as project good interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, configuring, supporting and maintaining servers, database server, SAN and VM performance issues and recommends alternative solutions. Provides technical support as well as external development sources. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively and rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish objectives.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Assists with maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the EECU network and computing infrastructure.
  • Design, install, configure, maintain, and monitor physical and logical database architecture, ensuring database health, performance, reliability, and availability.
  • Perform database modeling, data flow analysis, data extraction, and access methods, including the use of Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Manage and maintain backup and recovery processes, including backup clustering, mirroring, replication, failover, database storage allocation, and related security practices.
  • Perform database and server administration tasks, including user and group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, event log monitoring, and resource management.
  • Monitor data center and server health using established management tools; troubleshoot hardware and system issues and assist with building, testing, and maintaining new servers and database systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance across the organization’s server and database server asset inventory.
  • Prepare or reviews database and server production, operating, and down time records and reports; recommend changes to programs, routines, and quality control standards to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the help desk and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root causes, and provide technical support when needed
  • Perform routine/scheduled audits of the systems, including all backup inventory
  • Ensure security processes, software, hardware and related backup and restoration processes comply with applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, and EECU policies.
  • Collaborate with credit union managers, supervisors, vendors, and internal teams to coordinate services, resolve issues, and support technology operations.
  • Support the maintenance, development, and implementation of new credit union delivery systems and workflows to support organizational needs and objectives.
  • Support new credit union product/service implementations and installation of software upgrades.
  • Ensure maintenance, development, and implementation of new delivery systems and workflows is designed to meet the business requirements.
  • Maintain an accurate server rack configuration on EECU’s Data Centers.
  • Document specific duties, activities, problems solved and issues resolved.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred and four to six years related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Solid understanding of technology systems and strong computer skills.
  • Broad awareness of modern technology (i.e. Virtualization, WANs/LANs, VoIP, etc.).
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to respond to issues during non-scheduled hours of operation, including the need occasionally to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation.
