Senior LAN Network Engineer

Position Overview

  • As a LAN Network Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work both independently and as part of a team on complex network projects. You will develop your professional network and leadership skills as you support a wide variety of network-related solutions, utilizing your technical skillset and business understanding to help solve critical business problems.
  • This role will collaborate with the LAN team and other technical teams to provide network support across all Americas locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve LAN issues, and replace defective components as needed
  • Respond as needed to support requests related to LAN development and support
  • Provide off-shift support for critical incidents; team members rotate through an on-call schedule, requiring occasional off-shift and weekend support calls
  • Work directly with business partners and vendors on infrastructure integration as needed
  • Design and implement processes and process improvements to aid in development and support
  • Follow ITSM process and documentation for all changes
  • Collaborate with other technical teams to plan and execute changes (e.g., firewall, VPN, wireless, NAC)
  • Advise business partners on technical questions and issues in the LAN space

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer-related or engineering-related field with 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in Network Engineering OR
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Hands-on experience with LAN implementation and support, including risk domains, tiered domains, TCP/IP fundamentals, Ethernet, QoS, IP subnetting, copper and fiber cabling, OSPF, VLAN trunking, VLANs, and switching configuration
  • Functional experience with LAN operations and implementation utilizing Cisco switches and familiarity with Cisco equipment
  • Ability to work well in a team atmosphere and collaborate positively with others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Experience with automation technologies and scripting
  • Experience with DNA Center (Catalyst Center)
  • Wireless networking knowledge and experience
  • Relevant work experience with medium to large companies
