Job Summary
The Business Development Analyst will support the Chief Development Officer in evaluating potential eye care practice acquisitions. The role focuses on financial analysis, operational review, acquisition scoring, and AI-assisted analysis to turn financial and business data into clear insights for executive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze QuickBooks, financial statements, and operational data from prospective acquisition targets.
- Use Claude and other approved AI tools to organize information, identify trends, flag inconsistencies, and support initial analysis.
- Independently validate AI-generated findings against source documents and financial records.
Analyze P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, General Ledger, revenue, expenses, EBITDA, and cash flow trends.
- Identify potential add-backs, unusual expenses, financial discrepancies, and areas requiring further investigation.
- Evaluate practice performance, including provider productivity, patient volume, staffing, payroll, and revenue trends.
- Assess potential acquisition risks, financial concerns, growth opportunities, and operational improvement areas.
- Prepare Initial Practice Acquisition Scorecards to help prioritize opportunities for executive review.
- Prepare concise CDO Acquisition Briefs summarizing financial performance, key risks, opportunities, missing information, and recommended areas for further investigation.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling financial, employee, patient, and transaction-related information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, business analysis, corporate development, or a related field.
- Strong experience with QuickBooks and financial reporting.
- Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Strong understanding of P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, General Ledger, EBITDA, and financial analysis.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Claude or other AI tools, or willingness to become highly proficient in AI-assisted financial analysis.
- Ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated analysis.
- Excellent English communication and executive-summary writing skills.
- High level of confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism.
