Full description

Remote | UTC+8 | Core collaboration hours: 12:00–6:00 PM Manila Time Salmon is a technology-driven financial company building a banking and lending platform across Southeast Asia, starting in the Philippines. We combine global fintech expertise with deep local market knowledge to make financial services simple, accessible, and useful for millions of people across the region. 7M+ app downloads. 2M+ monthly active users. 7,000+ partner stores. US$310M+ raised from leading global investors. Manila-based, globally distributed, and hybrid-first — our team spans 45+ countries. If you want to solve complex problems at scale and impact how millions of people access and manage money, come build with us. Southeast Asia’s fintech moment starts here. About the role: You’ll help Salmon transition from a vendor-controlled SaaS processing model to a licensed, Salmon-owned payment processing platform, starting with ATM acquiring. You’ll test API and ISO 8583 transaction flows, support UAT and certification with external processing partners and payment schemes, and help ensure the platform is secure, reliable, and ready for production. As the platform evolves, your scope will expand to include POS and e-commerce acquiring.

What you’ll do:

  • Test end-to-end payment processing flows across APIs and ISO 8583 messages, including authorizations, reversals, error handling, reconciliation, clearing, and settlement.
  • Run manual and automated testing across the processing platform, ATM middleware, HSM/RKL, acquiring, anti-fraud, and core banking integrations.
  • Support UAT, payment scheme certification, release validation, and post-release monitoring.

What you’ll own:

  • Design, maintain, and execute test cases for functional, integration, regression, certification, and release testing.
  • Validate transaction flows, business rules, message fields, response codes, data consistency, and failure scenarios.
  • Build and maintain automated tests for APIs and other suitable parts of the processing platform.
  • Prepare structured test plans, test documentation, and traceability to business and payment scheme requirements.
  • Coordinate UAT and certification testing with the external processing vendor and payment schemes.
  • Document defects clearly, verify fixes, and identify root-cause patterns across transaction processing flows.
  • Manage testing activities from initial planning through release and certification sign-off.
  • Maintain test tasks and documentation in Jira and Confluence.
  • Collaborate closely with development, infrastructure, security, compliance, and operations teams.
  • Monitor production stability after releases and support transaction and incident investigations.

What makes you a strong fit:

  • 3+ years of experience as a QA Engineer, QA Automation Engineer, or SDET within fintech, banking, or payment processing.
  • Experience testing complex system integrations, ideally involving processors, switches, payment networks, or ATM, POS, and e-commerce acquiring.
  • Knowledge of ISO 8583 and the payment transaction lifecycle, including authorization, reversals, reconciliation, clearing, and settlement.
  • Understanding of UAT and certification processes within payment systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with API testing and test automation tools.
  • Strong SQL skills for transaction investigation, data analysis, and validation.
  • Experience with integration, regression, end-to-end, and release testing.
  • Familiarity with GitLab, GitOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • A structured approach to testing and the ability to take full ownership of quality-related tasks.
  • English proficiency at B2 level or higher, with effective written and verbal communication skills.

Good to have:

  • Strong understanding of acquiring, payment processing, and the issuer–acquirer–scheme model.
  • Hands-on experience with HSM, Remote Key Loading, or core banking integrations.
  • Experience with performance and load-testing tools.
  • Familiarity with microservice architectures, AWS, EKS, and production monitoring.
  • Experience conducting certification testing for Visa, Mastercard, BancNet, or other payment schemes.
  • Experience testing ATM, POS, or e-commerce acquiring solutions.

What we offer: Ownership and flexibility

  • Stock option plan — four-year vesting with a 25% cliff after the first year
  • Fully remote work with core collaboration hours from 12:00 to 6:00 PM Manila time (UTC+8)
  • Company-provided tools and equipment

Health and time off

  • Medical insurance support for you and your family through co-funding or reimbursement, depending on your location and subject to policy limits
  • Access to an internal mental health support specialist
  • 22 vacation days, Philippine public holidays, and 15 sick days

  • Opportunities to learn and share your expertise through internal expert meetups, external conferences, speaking opportunities, and industry publications
  • Company-sponsored trips to Manila to meet and work with your team in person
