Description

URM Stores, Inc. is currently looking for an experienced professional to join our team as our next amazing Security Engineer I! Working closely with the Cybersecurity Manager, this role supports URM’s day-to-day cybersecurity operations by developing, implementing, and monitoring security measures that protect information, networks, systems, and infrastructure. Responsibilities include assisting with cybersecurity strategy and architecture, identifying and documenting security requirements, recommending solutions, and configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining security hardware and software.

The role also involves deploying and monitoring security tools to detect breaches, intrusions, and unusual activity; establishing preventative controls; and supporting the ongoing development and improvement of URM’s information security strategy. Additional responsibilities include educating staff on security best practices, following ITIL practices for Incident Management, Request Fulfilment, and assigned Problem Management activities, and participating in an on-call rotation for security alerts and anomaly detection.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop, execute and track the performance of security measures to protect information and network infrastructure and computer systems.
  • Assist in the design of the computer security strategy and engineer solutions that address comprehensive cybersecurity architecture.
  • Identify, define and document system security requirements and recommend solutions to management.
  • Configure, troubleshoot and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware.
  • Install software that monitors systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions.
  • Monitor security systems for irregular behavior and set up preventive measures.
  • Aid in the planning, development, implementation and updating the company’s information security strategy.
  • Educate and train staff on information system security best practices.
  • Following ITIL best practices, engage in Incident Management and Request Fulfilment. Perform Problem Management tasks assigned.
  • Participate in an on-call/on-point rotation for alert monitoring/anomaly detection.

Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in cybersecurity or a related field.
  • Knowledge of security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, XDR/EDR, DLP, IDS/IPS, SIEM).
  • Understanding of basic cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Prior advanced experience and understanding of network/routing concepts, project and vendor management.
  • Experience in retail environments desired.
  • Familiarity in one or more of the following is a plus:
