We’re launching a transformational two-year programme to strengthen our data, reporting and insight capabilities, and we’d love you to be part of it.
We’re looking for a Business Data Analyst to join us on an 18-month FTC, helping us deliver improvements to our data quality, reporting, visualisation and insight capabilities.
You’ll join our established Data Analytics and Governance Team, helping to shape how we manage, understand and use data across Affinity Water. You’ll work closely with business and technical teams to turn requirements into effective data solutions, improve data quality and governance, and deliver meaningful insights that support better decision-making.
You’ll also support exploratory data analysis, data mapping and visualisation, working alongside data scientists, engineers and architects to develop reporting, dashboards and data products.
What you’ll be doing
- Gather, analyse and document business and data requirements, using techniques such as process mapping and gap analysis.
- Work with stakeholders across Affinity Water to understand challenges and identify opportunities to use data more effectively.
- Map data flows and lineage to support data quality, integrity and governance.
- Support exploratory data analysis and work with data science, engineering, architecture and IT teams to deliver data solutions.
- Create clear and engaging data visualisations and communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to scalable, sustainable data solutions aligned with business and technical standards.
What you’ll bring
- Significant experience in a Data or BI Business Analyst role, ideally within data transformation programmes.
- Strong SQL and data analysis skills, with experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Good understanding of data quality, data governance, data warehousing, data lakes and ETL processes.
- Experience with data mapping, modelling and gathering detailed data requirements.
- Knowledge of data visualisation tools, preferably Qlik Sense, and an understanding of data science and scripting languages such as Python.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a naturally curious approach to understanding data and finding solutions.
- Experience working in agile environments and managing your own workload to meet deadlines.
- Experience within the water industry and knowledge of billing, customer, asset, hydraulic or GIS data would be advantageous
