The Business Solutions Architect designs practical technology and process solutions that help the business solve problems, improve operations, and meet strategic goals. In this role, you will manage the development and enhancement of business solutions, systems and processes. You will be responsible for new project intake process from planning, oversight, facilitation, and implementation. You will work closely with a team of software developers and stakeholders to define business requirements, estimate timelines, assign tasks, and communicate progress reports. The Business Solutions Architect works in alignment between Operations, Finance and Technical teams to ensure data accuracy, streamline processes and improve system utilization. This position will report to VP of IT supporting daily ERP financial operations as well as business improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of support for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
- Support Finance with GL, AP, AR, and cost accounting processes within Dynamics/Great Plains and Epicor Prophet 21 (P21)
- Work with stakeholders to understand goals, pain points, workflows, and requirements
- Make sure the solution supports business strategy, security needs, scalability, cost expectations, and operational requirements.
- Guide projects, review technical designs, resolve issues, and keep teams aligned during delivery
- Look for ways to simplify workflows, automate manual tasks, reduce risk, and improve efficiency
- Assess and evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of business process controls throughout the business cycle
- Assist in identifying opportunities for improvement in the areas of automation, and internal controls
- Analyze existing ERP workflows to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and user experience.
- Translate business requirements into technical direction that developers, analysts, vendors, and IT teams can act on
- Propose and implement process enhancements and system improvements
- Assist in the creation of high-quality executive deliverables, reports, and presentations
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and queries
- Document business processes, ERP configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Assist with testing and validation of ERP changes, updates, and enhancements
- Analyze ERP data to support operational and financial decision-making.
- Promote and enforce data standards and best practices.
- monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and track business performance.
Qualifications
- A degree in Business, Information Systems, Accounting or related field
- Three years of recent experience in any of the following areas: ERP modules, implementations, financial systems development and support, and business process transformation
- Microsoft SQL (T-SQL) querying with extensive knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio
- Experience in user support, technical service desk or technical customer service
- Ability to create user documentation and provide user training
- Knowledge of Databases and Database management tools
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming and languages
- Employment experience in business analysis, technical architecture and project/product delivery
- Report writing using business intelligence tools including advanced Excel and data analysis skills
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and business stakeholders
- Experience in process improvement
- Ability to promote best practices and drive user adoption
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to analyze issues and recommend practical solutions
- Detail‑oriented, well‑organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience in Dynamics Great Plains and Prophet 21 ERP systems
- Experience working in the oil or manufacturing industry
- Familiarity with Epicor ERP financial modules
- Experience in CRMs: Dynamics, HubSpot
- Experience with API integrations, PowerBI, or data management
- Experience coding in C#
- PowerBI dashboards, Excel Power Pivot
- ETL workflows using Excel Power Query, SSRS, and SSIS
