Cybersecurity Engineering Co-op

In this role within the Radiology Cybersecurity group, you will be tasked with securing Bayer Radiology medical devices and medical device software against potential cyber threats. This includes reviewing cybersecurity vulnerabilities, assessing their likelihood of exploitation, and evaluating any potential impacts on the safety and effectiveness of Bayer Radiology medical devices. You will also design and develop solutions to mitigate cybersecurity risks associated with Bayer Radiology medical devices, medical device software, and IT software products.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Fulfill requirements defined by others;
  • Support the development of one design element at a time within a selected discipline;
  • Learn about the product and clinical applications;
  • Develop a guided understanding of direct interfaces (inputs/outputs) within the relevant processes;
  • Participate in cybersecurity design reviews;
  • Receive clearly defined objectives and instructions from a more experienced lead engineer, cybersecurity engineer, or supervisor;
  • Accurately follow directions;
  • Communicate work activities effectively;
  • Contact and gather information from suppliers;
  • Communicate work activities effectively.

Key Working Relationships:

  • Supervisor, Peers, External/Internal Customers, Vendors, and Suppliers.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED;
  • Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity Engineering or related field;
  • Academic understanding of cybersecurity principles (2+ years);
  • Fulfills requirements defined by others;
  • Working knowledge and proven skills of PC computer operating system including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
  • Awareness of other technical disciplines;
  • Understanding of basic tools and technologies;
  • Supports development of one design element at a time within a selected discipline;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Excellent collaboration skills;
  • Excellent customer focus skills;
  • Familiarity, experience, or coursework on performing vulnerability analysis, vulnerability testing, security risk analyses, and security assessments;
  • Familiarity, experience, or coursework with penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and associated tools (Wireshark, Metasploit, Nessus, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior internship experience at Bayer;
  • Prior cybersecurity internship experience;
  • Familiarity, experience, or coursework with cybersecurity incident response and investigations;
  • Familiarity, experience, or coursework reviewing security architecture and designs;
  • Familiarity, experience, or coursework with cybersecurity regulations and standards such as NIST Framework, ISO 27001;
  • Familiarity, experience, or coursework with data privacy standards such as HIPAA, GDPR.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $24.00 to $45.50. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc (if relevant). This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
