About this Role
We are seeking a Database & OSS Engineer to design, develop, and optimise database solutions that support critical OSS applications and operational systems. This role focuses on ensuring data integrity, scalability, performance optimisation, automation, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will work within an Agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams while supporting business requirements for the German market. The position provides opportunities to contribute to innovation, database modernisation, and technology transformation initiatives.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and maintain efficient database schemas, tables, and relationships to support application requirements.
- Optimise database performance, stability, query execution, indexing strategies, and resource utilisation.
- Develop and enhance PL/SQL packages, procedures, triggers, and functions for automation and data processing.
- Monitor production and non-production environments, identify issues, and implement timely resolutions.
- Investigate emerging technologies and contribute recommendations for architectural improvements.
- Collaborate with application development teams to integrate database logic and support application functionality.
- Support Agile delivery through active participation in sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and user story execution.
- Promote innovation through the adoption of new tools, methods, and technical standards.
Who you are
- Strong expertise in SQL, advanced SQL, PL/SQL programming, query optimisation, and database design principles.
- Experience troubleshooting complex database issues and delivering practical solutions.
- Ability to maintain high standards of data accuracy, consistency, and code quality.
- Knowledge of dynamic query development and automated job scheduling.
- Understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux scripting for automation activities.
- Experience with version control platforms such as Git.
- Basic knowledge of Java and database integration concepts.
- Knowledge of Oracle Analytical Server or reporting tools is advantageous.
- Strong communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience working effectively within international and multicultural teams.
- Google Cloud certification is desirable.
